Tenor Bass Choir

Constitution

To provide performance opportunities representative of choral music around the world.

Article I
Sections:
1. This organization shall be known by the title …
2. The purpose of this organization shall be:
- Provide quality choral experiences for the Shenandoah University campus and
the community as a whole.
- Study, rehearse, and perform a diverse body of repertoire representative of the
world choral palate.
- Create collaborative performances at the pre-professional level.

Article II
This Association shall be governed by the articles and bylaws of this Constitution.

Article III
Membership to Tenor Bass Choir shall be open to all students interested in the purposes set forth
above, at or below the graduate level.

No dues are required for membership to this organization.

Article IV
Sections:
1. The officers of this chapter shall be:
- President
- Secretary
- The Executive Board will comprise these officers and the Chapter Advisor
2. All officers shall serve for a period of one year, elected in May.
3. Duties of the officers shall be outlined in the bylaws
4. Election shall be by a simple majority
5. In the event of a vacancy in any office, except President, the Executive Board shall
appoint a successor to fill the remainder of the term.
6. In the event of a vacancy in the office of President, a general election shall be held.
The Secretary shall serve as President Pro-term until such an election may be
held.
7. Impeachment of an officer may take place at any general meeting for which at least
two weeks’ notice has been given to all members by a three-fourth vote of the
membership. The officer in question shall be allowed to make a case in his or her
defense if he or she chooses. A petition must be presented, signed by at least one-fifth
of the membership, for impeachment proceedings to be placed on the agenda of a
meeting.
8. Faculty Advisor will be appointed by the Dean of the Conservatory of Shenandoah
University.

Article V
The Tenor Bass Choir shall meet from 7:00pm to 9:00pm each Tuesday night.

Article VI
Amendments to this Constitution may be proposed by any member and are to be supported by a
petition of one-fifth of the membership. Following at least a three-week publicity period,
amendments may be adopted by a two-thirds vote of the chapter membership.

BYLAWS

Article I - Name
The name of this organization shall be Tenor Bass Choir.

Article II - Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be set forth in the Constitution.

Article III - Membership


Membership is open to all of Shenandoah University as well as community members who are
interested in learning, rehearsing, and performing high level choral works.

Attendance at all meetings is highly encouraged. If a member misses two meetings in a semester
unexcused, that member will meet with the Executive Board to discuss continued membership in
the ensemble.

Article IV - Officers
The officers of the organization shall be provided for in the Constitution.

The duties of the Chapter President shall be as follows:


- To preside at general membership and Executive Board meetings.
- To appoint members of all committees, temporary and standing.
- To work closely with the Faculty Advisor and other officers in planning activities of the
chapter.
- To supervise and coordinate all activities of the Tenor Bass Choir.

The duties of the Chapter Vice President shall be as follows:


- To be available to the President always and to perform such duties as the President
deems necessary.
- To officiate in the place of the President in event of absence.
- To serve as co-chairman of all committees.

The duties of the Secretary shall be as follows:


- To keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all Executive Board and general
membership meetings.
- To arrange those records for permanent, efficient reference.
- To be responsible for all correspondence of the chapter and the Executive Board.

The duties of the Treasurer shall be as follows:


- To keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all Executive Board and general
membership meetings.
- To collect dues and handle all other financial matters.

The duties fo the Student Government Association Representative shall be as follows:


- To attend all SGA discussion, and represent the chapter at SGA meetings including
voting and presentations.

Article V - Meetings
Sections:
- The Tenor Bass Choir will meet each Tuesday from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
- The Executive Board shall meet at least once quarterly in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.

Article VII - Executive Board


Sections:
-The Chapter president shall be chairman of the Executive Board.
- All expenditures of money shall be approved by at least two members of the Executive
Board and shall be made by the treasurer.

Article IX - Amendments
Any member at any regular or special business meeting may propose amendments to these
bylaws.
Amendments may be adopted by a two-thirds vote of a quorum at such meetings.
