Transponder: Software version 1.08, build 240

Identification:

A new software for the UAIS transponder has just been released.
This new release corrects a minor error that was inadvertently introduced in the previously released
version 1.07 namely, if ship’s name or call sign includes any special characters a „General Failure“
alarm status may be triggered.
With this new release 1.08 of the transponder software characters such as „. / - &“ etc. are allowed
in ship’s name or call sign string.

Action:

This revised software file for the Transponder is included with the existing KDU software version
1.1.3 file in a package (size app. 5MB) available from the respective extranets. This package
includes also instructions on how to accomplish the flashing of the software. On the topic of flashing
software to transponder and KDU, reference is also made to the Technical Manual covering these
units respectively.

Updating the UAIS transponder with this revised software version 1.08 is required only when
programming of ship’s name and/or call sign requires special characters as described.
This new version 1.08 replaces the previous version 1.07 and hence includes also the corrections
and alterations described in Technical Service Information No. 20040109 issued with the previous
release of transponder software.

proper equipment operation is less than 1 hour.
