Gauge:
Gauge is essential for this project. Your cozy should measure 4” across
and 3” from top to bottom.
Directions:
Using (A), ch 32. Form a circle by making a ss in the first ch stitch made. Be careful not to twist
the row of ch stitches as you go.
1. Continue working sc stitches in rounds until cozy measures 3” from bottom to top. When
the desired length is achieved, make a ss into your final st and fasten off and weave in
ends.
1. Sc in second ch from hook. Hdc in following ch st. Dc in the next. Hdc again in the
following ch st and sc in the final st.
2. Fasten off and weave in shortest end. Leave long end for sewing.
1. Cut white felt to measure 1 ½ x 1 ¾ inches. Fold it in half and cut out a half heart shape
with a rounded bottom. Unfold to reveal muzzle shape.
2. Use white embroidery thread to sew muzzle to cozy.
3. Use black embroidery thread and embroider nose and eyes.
4. Sew ears on to cozy.
1. Locate a spot approximately 1” to the left (or right) of your muzzle. Be sure that it is a
spot beyond where the ears have been sewn.
2. Using (B), ss in any space between your worked sc stitches (just be sure it’s a spot that
follows the above description).
3. In the SAME space as your ss, complete the following three stitches: sc, hdc, dc (in that
order).
4. Choose another spot, near and above your completed stitches and complete the
following three stitches: dc, hdc, sc (in that exact order).
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 around your lion’s face, until the maine is complete.
6. Fasten off and weave in ends.
