PLAN OF THE DAY

 Visit new seemapuri community and conduct activities of possibility workshop

 Meet female rag pickers of the community and know about their daily struggles.

WORK DONE

 I visited new seemapuri community and met my group of children at park. I

conducted two activities of possibilities workshop which I have learnt in my previous
year field work. The objective of this workshop was to encourage students to think
out of the box and help them to see their positive self-image.
Activity 1 -Balloon activity
I gave balloon to 5 children and told them that the person whose balloon will remain
unburst will be the winner and after my this statement I saw the rush of bursting the
balloon of other person in everyone not even a single child tried to save their own
balloon. I asked them what as the message behind this activity and one of the child
said according to him you should give your 100% for achieving the victory was the
message behind this activity. I told that none of you had tried to protect your own
balloon and was running after the balloon of other people and this is what we always
do in life. If all of us had saved our own balloon instead of bursting each other than all
of us would have been a winner.
Activity 2 Pass your body from the piece of Paper
I showed a full A4 size paper to them and asked that whether anyone of them could
pass their body from inside this paper suddenly one of the children said that her sister
who is just one year old can be pass from the paper after making a big hole and then
everyone started laughing then I made six pieces of a single A4 size sheet and asked
them now whether they can pass their own body from this. As expected answer was a
big no. After this I told them to fold a paper and start tearing it from the corner then
keep tearing the same until they reach last point of the paper. They all were so happy
after doing this and one of the child said that “ naya game seekha”. Now it was time
for asking what they learnt from this activity. What was the purpose or message
behind this? I got so many different responses like it is fun and difficult to guess what
the purpose behind this activity is. I told them message was we should keep trying
until and unless we have achieved our goal. I explained them “Nothing is impossible”
phrase and wanted them to connect this with their lives and to get some motivation
from this activity.
Activity 3 - Mirror Activity
I showed them a broken mirror and asked them all to look one by one in this mirror
and try to guess what actually I am trying to convey them by showing this broken
mirror. What does this broken mirror symbolize? After 2 minutes I showed them a
plane mirror without any crack and ask them now why I have shown them a broken
mirror before this mirror and what does this plane mirror without crack symbolize?
Again I got some interesting responses one of the child said you showed us a broken
mirror so that we can see our face parts in from different angle. The other child said
that broken mirror symbolize that we don’t value thing which we have. None of them
was able to get the right message then I told them that a broken mirror is a society
which keep showing us our faults and keep demotivating us they show us how they
perceive so instead of looking things from the negative perspective we should
concentrate on the positive effects of the things. The plane mirror is how we perceive
ourselves and how we look ourselves. We should focus more on the positive and
brighter side.
 I met two ladies one was very old they both work as a independent rag picker they
went to surya nagar for collecting garbage and waste material and then segregate it
into different sections. She told me that because of plastic ban they are facing very
difficult in arranging even the meals for two times because shopkeeper is not
accepting plastic bottles and other plastic material which is now ban. She said that
now disposal glasses and other material like paper waste all cost only Rs.12 aana per
kg. The rates are going down every day. The iron which we use to sell 1 kg of Rs 12
has reduced to Rs. 7 because of which we try to collect more material but still not able
to manage this situations. She also mentioned about her girl child who is differently
abled and 12th pass. She said if we can arrange some job for her then it would be very
helpful to them. I planned meeting to her in next field work

OBSERVATION

 While conducting a possibility workshop I firstly introduced them today we will learn
some new messages from every activity so everyone has to pay more attention. There
was a spark in every eyes .The passion to learn things in these children has always
motivated me to give my best so that their interest for learning will grow more and
more. After the end of every activity we had discussion round when everyone was
supposed to tell what message does the activity convey to them and I observed that
they all were learning things from their own perspective and even I have learnt new
messages which they activity actually conveyed. I saw things from their perspective
and at that moment I felt that every activity do convey more than one message.
 Plastic ban policy has effect the daily earnings of ragpicker because of which they are
now struggling more for arranging daily meals for their family.

ANLAYSIS AND LEARNING

 The possibility workshop is an interactive workshop of participation in self-

discovery, visualization, creativity, learning mind skills. The potential of children
are explored and they are encouraged to see a positive self-image. This workshop
also give an opportunity to interact, cooperate and coordinate with each other. It
enables them to think that “nothing is impossible” and motivates them in real life.
 Rag pickers are affected by the ban of single use plastic. Their income has
reduced to 50% or more. Some days they can only earn Rs 50 which is very less
for survival of whole family. They survive on their daily income. There is no
savings left after this ban. This is the sector which contribute more than 70% in
waste management system in India but still neglected by the ministries and
organisation. Rag pickers are the most marginalised section of the society under
which female are at the bottom level.

FUTURE PLAN

 Visit new seemapuri community and conduct activity with the children.
 Meet shaheena , differently abled girl in new seemapuri community.
