1. It is a general knowledge that the bricks is high in compression and very low in
tension. For this reason, the researchers had an interest on how to improve the tensile
strength of the clay brick pavement. Among of the different reinforcing materials, human
hair fiber can be utilized in clay bricks for it has a good tensile strength due to its natural
fiber. Therefore, it can give or enhance the clay brick pavement an adequate amount of
strength that is needed to resist the shearing and to be a sustainable material. (Butt,
2015).

3. As per the definition on 1.7 , durability is the ability to withstand the damage such as
cause by weathering. To test the durability of the bricks, water absorption test will be
used in bricks to observe its condition and performance toward eroding and burning.

5. The age of the hair will not be considered for it is hard to segregate the hair by age.
Also, due to the limited time given, the researchers chose to limit the characteristics of
human hair fiber with the gender, treated and untreated hair only. However, it is
recommended for the future researchers if they have a plenty of time, the age of the hair
must be consider.

7. According to (Sudet et al., 2016), acetone is a light alcohol and an organic compound
that makes it one of the most commonly used solvent, specially for cleaning because it
removes most impurities without having a harsh effect on the material. One of the
characterics of acetone is it raises the protein precipitation of the material. The process
of protein precipitation is to help the biological product to produce a contentrated protein
and purify them from different impurities or contaminants (Abian,2003).In effect,
acetone enhances the fiberous material of the hair for it makes the protein content
concentrated.

3. 1.6 Scope and Delimitations

This study focuses on the effects of human hair in the mechanical properties of the
clay pavement bricks. The researchers consider three tests to be performed in this study
namely compressive strength, tensile strength, and durability. The ratio of human hair to
be added in the design mix of clay and water are 0%, 0.75%, 1.5%, and 2.25%. Treated
and untreated hair of male and female will be used in this study for assessment and
comparison. These human hair samples will be obtained from Manila and the provinces
of Nueva Ecija, Aurora, and Cavite. Also, the physical properties of the human hair sample
namely size and texture will be determined based on the researchers’ observation. The
length of human hair that will be used in is approximately 3.5 cm.
On the other hand, this study will not cover the other mechanical properties of the clay
pavement bricks. It will not consider the effects of the difference in hair diameter,
thickness, length, and color of human hair samples. Also, the effect of the type of human
hair based on different age groups and ethnicity will not be considered in this study.
Thus, this study will only be limited to the evaluation and assessment of the human hair
utilization on clay pavement bricks whether it will greatly increase or decrease the
mechanical properties of the said construction material.

5. The experiment on the previous articles has utilized up to 1.50% of hair only and they
have concluded that it is the maximum percentage of hair to be added in the clay brick in
order to obtain a maximum effect on mechanical properties of clay bricks. In this study,
the researcher wants to prove that the 1.50% of hair is the maximum and if proven the
goal is to see that after 1.50% the mechanical properties will really decrease.
