Interaction With Nuclei of Medium
Main processes of neutron
interaction with nuclei of a medium
Main mechanism of neutron interaction with nuclei of
medium:
1. Scattering — is interaction of a neutron with a nucleus
which resulted only redistribution of a kinetic energy and
the angular momentum between neutron and nucleus.
2. Absorption — includes all interactions of a neutron with a
nucleus resulted the appearance of new nucleus and
new particles (including neutrons).
Mechanism of formation of
compound nucleus
 Important role in explaining the mechanism of
many nuclear reactions played assumption N. Borh
(1936) about two stages of nuclear reactions:
 X + a→ C* →Y + b.
