6.2 Recommendations
To avoid the different value between manual and esteem results:

1. Take at least 3 decimals places of any value calculated in structural design calculation
such as beam, slab, column and pad footing.
2. Bill of quantity rate must refer to schedule of rate that launch by JKR in order to get
the right rate for each type of concrete, formwork and reinforcement steel that will
be used. This case because to avoid inaccuracy of the total cost for the project.
3. Set the parameters in the Esteem software according to the JKR standard in order to
determine an accurate calculation while doing manual calculation.
4. Make sure that the design must refer to the UBBL Building by Law to ensure the
suitable size of buildings to be designed while designing stage using Esteem software.
5. For taking off calculation, must refer to the result in Esteem to ensure that the type of
concrete, formwork and reinforcement calculation in manual calculation must be
accurate with Esteem result.
