Topic: Mixtures and its Properties

I. Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:
Explain the different kinds of mixtures and its characteristics through the flash
cards activity by justifying the arrangement
Categorize different mixtures according to its type through the game of
Scattergories
Differentiate homogenous mixtures, heterogeneous mixtures, colloids, and
suspensions by creating a venn diagram
Identify the applications of mixtures in households and other industries by giving
examples
II. Content
The subject of this lesson plan is the different mixtures and its characteristics. It will
introduce the four common mixtures that can be found everywhere which are
homogenous mixtures, heterogeneous mixtures, colloids, and suspensions. The teacher
will discuss the properties of each type and give examples. He/She will also point out the
differences between the types of mixtures. To recognize the importance of these
mixtures, the teacher will give real-life applications of mixtures in households and other
industries.
III. Learning Resources
Flash Cards Activity
- This is a material for an activity that will foster cognitivist experiences because it
will require the students to place the assigned mixture that they have on the board
without knowing the categories. There answers will be based on their own
conclusions and understanding of the activity.
Scattergories
- This learning material is a game that fosters constructivist experiences because it
will require the students to form groups and coordinate with each other to win the
game. There will be four categories; homogenous, heterogeneous, colloids, and
suspensions. Each group will be given a paper wherein they will list down all of
their according to the category presented. However, their answers should
correspond to the initial letters given in the paper. They should be able to list 10
items under that category and if other groups had list down the same item, it will
be crossed out. The winner of the game will be the one who has least items
crossed out on their paper.
