1. SCOPE
1.1 This specification covc:?s expanded metal steel sheets :L:*,: !1::- rrnc:-a:

‘2. SUPPLY OF MATER’! AL


2.1 General requirements relating .to the supply of expa~;dcti metal steel
sheets shall conform to IS : 1387-1967t.

3. MANUFACTURFi

3.2 The ladle analysis of stec,! for manufacture of expanded metal sheets,
when analysed in accordance with IS : 228 ( Part 111 )-1372* anr! IS : 228

3.3 Hank steel sheets and plates shall be.. supplied, with or without

3.3.1 When blank stce! she+js,&nd plates are supplied with ,guaranteed

3.3.1.1 A test piccch cut from rhe bl:?.nk sheets and plates when tested
in accordance with IS : 1692-19749, shall withstand without crack, being
doubled over, when cold, either by pressure or by blows from a hammer,
until the two sides of tile test pi&e are paraM and the internal radius is
not greiter than 1’5 times the thickness of the test piece.

edges; and all other harmful surface defects.

4. SIZE OF MXSH

4.1 The size of mesh of expanded metal sheets shall bc based on !hc
measurements of the shortway and the longway of the di r:m(:nd iis F~c;~:I:
in Fig. 1.

10. PRESERVATIVE, TREATMENT


10.1 ‘.Expanded meta sheets shall be given a suitable protective coating to
prevent corrosion.
11. PACKING
‘.
11.1 ‘Unless specified otherwrse by the purchaser, expanded metal sheets
shall be supplied in rolls or with any other suitable packing that can with-
stand transit.
12. MARKING
12.1 Expanded metal sheets shall be securely bundled :and a metal tag
attached to each bundle and marked with manufacturer’s name or trade
mark.
12.1.1 The material may also be marked with the ‘ISI Certification
Mark.
Nom - The use of the ISI Certification Mark is governed by the provisions of the
Indian Standards Institution ( Certification Marks ) Act and the Rules and Regulations
made thereunder. The IS1 mark on products covered by an Indian Standard conveys
the assurance that they have bten produced to comply with the requirements of that
standard under a well-defined system of inspection, testing and quality control which
is devised and supervised by IS1 and operated by the producer. ISI. marked products
are also continuously checked by ISI for conformity to that standard as a further
safeguard. Details of conditions under which a licence for the use of the ISI Certifica-
tion Mark may be granted to manufacturers or processors, may be obtained from the
Indian Standards Institution.
