SBI under-reported bad loans by `11,932 cr in FY19: RBI
New Delhi: The coun-
try’s largest lender, State
Bank of India (SBI), on
Tuesday reported about
Rs 12,000 crore diver-
gence in their bad loans
for the last fiscal.
In a filing with BSE
on Tuesday, the bank
said that it was re-
porting a divergence
in asset classification
based on receipt of
the RBI’s final Risk
Assessment Report.
As per the assess-
ment done by the RBI,
the gross NPA of the
SBI was 11,932 crore
more at Rs 1,84,682 as
against Rs 1,72,750

Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and
Christians from three specific neighbouring
countries — Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Af-
ghanistan, who are already inside India on or
before 31 December 2014.
Citizenship will not be granted automati-
cally and they will need to fulfill the condi-
tions specified in the Third Schedule to the
Citizenship Act, 1955.
CAB does not restrict people of a certain
religion from entering India, everyone hold-
ing a valid visa is welcome. Also, any refugee
who entered India 2015 onwards will fall un-
der the current refugee policy.
Nowhere does CAB make any provision
that Muslim refugees or any other refugees
will be deported. Refugees not covered under
the CAB shall continue to have all rights as
refugees fleeing persecution. For example, if
a Shia Muslim is facing persecution and
seeks shelter in India, his case to continue to
reside in India as a refugee shall be consid-
ered individually as per circumstances.
Also, Muslims from Pakistan, Bangla-
desh, and Afghanistan can apply for Indian
citizenship.
Article 1 Para. 2 of the 1951 United Nations
Convention defines ‘refugee’ as “A person
who owing to well-founded fear of being per-
secuted for reasons of race, religion, nation-
ality, membership of a particular social
group or political opinion, is outside the
country of his nationality and is unable or,
owing to such fear, unwilling to avail himself
of the protection of that country.”
The past several decades have proven that
the conditions for these specific communities
are not likely to improve in the three coun-
tries. So, India will offer these persecuted
minorities, not just temporary residence but
the sacred right of citizenship.

whose passport numbers do not match with the passport numbers on their OCI cards. Bhandari
requested Ambassador to help in the resolution of this issue through a mix of public information
