RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
● Student Teaching Internship: In the fall of 2019, I participated in a student teaching
internship. My experience was at Strongsville High School and my cooperating teacher
was Alyssa Hoslar. From September 6th until December 6th, I was in school every day
from 7 am until 10-10:30 am. I was responsible for:
○ Updating the daily schedule
○ Creating a variety of lessons for both an Algebra and an AP Calculus class
○ Taking attendance
○ Tutoring students in PLATO (online class) every Monday and Tuesday
○ Co-teaching with an intervention specialist
● SHUDDLE Program: For my junior and senior years in high school, I had the
opportunity to participate in SHUDDLE, a program in which teenagers educate a fifth
grade class on topics such as drugs, peer pressure, and setting goals. We served as
teachers and mentors for the duration of a school year.
○ As a teacher, I had to come up with lesson plans before I taught my class. These
lesson plans often included my own activities, and I formed these activities based
on how my class learned and retained information.
○ Oftentimes, young kids ask inappropriate questions. I had to learn how to
answers appropriately and quickly in awkward situations.
○ I am able to keep a group of children calm to ensure that their learning
experience is top-notch.
● Tutoring Program: In high school, I participated in a tutoring program offered through
Medina High School. I tutored both spanish and math to four fellow high schoolers and
middle schoolers throughout my junior and senior year.
○ I know how to teach one-on-one
○ I can work through material thoroughly to make sure my student understands
what’s going on.
● Volunteer at Lawrence Upper School (Fall 2017): Through Baldwin Wallace, I was
able to observe Mrs. Jessica Rooney’s classroom. I watched how she interacted with her
students, and I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in helping the students
solve problems as well as assist with future lessons in the Honors Geometry class.
