Objectives
- Students will be able to recognize staccato, legato, and accent articulations, as well as be
able to correct buzz/play them.
Procedures
- I will ask students to recall the definitions for staccato, legato, and accents.
- Then I’ll explain the different syllables that correlate to each articulation (Ti, Doo, Ta)
- Students will then model me in performing these articulations using air patterns with four
quarter notes on each syllable
- Repeat on mouthpiece
- Repeat on instrument (Concert Bb)
- Use concert Bb scale with quarter, two eighths, quarter, quarter pattern on each note with
the syllable pattern Ta Ti Ti Doo Doo, up and down the scale
Assessment
- Will call on groups of students/instruments to perform the scale with correct articulation
patterns
