Dear Parent/Carer

YEAR 11 2020 SUBJECT SELECTION PROCESS

I am writing to invite you and your child to a Subject Selection Information Evening on Tuesday 25 June
commencing at 6:00pm in the Chisholm Space. The evening will include information about the requirements
for the HSC and ATAR. This is a valuable night for you to access information needed for your child to make an
informed choice for their HSC studies.

Students, parents and carers can download the 2020 Stage Six Course Information Booklet from the school
website and students have been allocated time in Learning Circle for this purpose. All parent and carers are
advised to read the booklet carefully as it contains comprehensive course descriptions and detailed
explanations of the School and NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requirements for your child’s
Pattern of Study in the Preliminary Year.

This year students will select their subjects online through webchoice and will be emailed an access code by
Wednesday 26 June. All subject choices need to be finalised on Webchoice by Wednesday 3 July (Week 10).
Students will be provided with support at school if required. When completing the choice of subjects,
students will need to take into consideration the following:
 Their interests – what they enjoy learning
 Post school pathways
 Recommendation from Leaders of Key Learning Areas
 Their academic ability based upon their performance in Years Nine and Ten
 Whether they wish to obtain an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and the restrictions this places
on the combinations of subjects permitted by NESA
 Other NESA and School requirements as outlined in the 2020 Stage Six Course Information Booklet.

YEAR 11 INTERVIEW
To ensure that the most beneficial choices of subjects are made, we require an interview with you and your
child in Term Three on Thursday 15 August. The purpose of these interviews is to assist each student to
understand what the school expects of senior students as well as providing an opportunity for discussion of
any concerns you may have pertaining to your child’s Pattern of Study. These interviews are compulsory for
all students wishing to be enrolled in Year 11 2020 at Corpus Christi. You will receive information early in
Term Three about the procedure for booking these interviews.
