Dancing was my first love. The moment I came into this world, I had rhythm.

Whether that was my early ADHD preventing me from sitting still or natural ability is

anyone's guess. I wore a tutu every day for a year, only taking it off for my mother to

clean it. My love for theatre came later in life but hit me in just the same way. Theatre

has been my whole world for a long time, and when I ultimately went to college, I knew

the UNCSA was my top choice.

Although I have not had the chance to visit the campus and experience it fully, my

extensive research on the class schedules, facilities, and professors made me feel like I

was already am a drama student. My dream is to be able to enhance my dancing, acting,

and vocal abilities for all four years of college, so UNCSA's conservatory style is ideal.

As a theatre student, performing and working as much as possible is my lifeline, and I

recognize UNCSA is fully prepared to let me. Every time I think of UNCSA's drama

program, I think of family. If you look at the program's Instagram, you can understand

why. Every time an alumnus gets cast or receives an award for a show, they post about it.

Being part of a community like that is so inspiring, and I would love to live and breathe

in that. Every Broadway show I see, I always look for 'UNCSA' in the actor's bios, and I

always find what I'm looking for. I want to be in a program that helps get people jobs in

the field, and being in a program that strives to make a performer the best that they can be

in an environment that helps them grow is what I need.

Doing a production is one of my favorite aspects of theatre. As a performer,

becoming another person is truly a magnificent thing that we do, and UNCSA

concentrated shows are amazing. The fact that productions are heavily involved in

UNCSA’s curriculum is inspiring. An Aspect of UNCSA's program, I also fell in love

with was that throughout freshman and sophomore year, you have to take theatre tech

classes. As a member of the Thespian Honor Society, I know how important tech is in

theatre. I built and painted sets for hours and hours during the school year and had the

chance to work closely with the lighting and sound crew during plays and musicals, so

having the opportunity to work further in that area would male my experience even more

significant. Being in the crew in foreign to me. Throughout high school, I’ve always been

in the show performing, but as a performer I have a revere for the crew. Having drama

students have to be in the crew for one of the productions is great because it gives a

newfound understanding for all the aspects that happen behind the curtain. Although

performing on a stage is my passion, I am excited that part of the drama conservatory

program at UNCSA is acting for the camera. My understanding is that a lot of

performance opportunities are on camera, and though I have not had to most experience

on screen, I am so excited that it is part of the curriculum at UNCSA. UNCSA's drama

conservatory warrants all the praise it receives. It's so jam-packed, it is obvious why so

many alumni are always working- they got the training they lacked.
