LAB PROPOSAL: 2nd experiment

walking speed is the parameter for this experiment. three situations of different walking
speed should be recorded such us standing still, normal walking and running.

force platform will be used to record the applied force by the foot on the plane. the
transducers in the force plate measure three dimensional forces by monitoring an electrical
current flowing through the piezoelectric sensor and recording its changes as the subject
apply force in any walking speed. the current change is translated into force in newton unit.
Lastly, Plantar Foot Pressure is calculated by the simple pressure formula which is pressure is
equal to the applied force divided by the foot area.

Methodology:

1) subject is asked to remove all materials he/she is carrying such us shoes to avoid
any other influencing factors.
2) subject is asked to stand still on the platform which is the first walking speed.
3) force acting by the foot on the platform is recorded.
4) Plantar Foot Pressure is calculated by using pressure formula.
5) steps 1-4 are repeated with different walking speed (normal walking and running).

Expected outcome:

During running the pressure of the foot increases because the ground contact time
decreases and that means that in the first situation (standing still) the lowest Foot Plantar
Pressure should be recorded.
