Tattwa Cards!
! Tattwa Cards are originally from ‘the East’. They entered the Western
Mystery Tradition through the work of the Order of the Golden Dawn, and
possibly through the Theosophical Society where they were a practice to help
train the mind to see the five elements of Air (blue circles), Fire (red triangles),
Water (silver moons), Earth (yellow squares), and Spirit (black eggs). These
cards may be cut out, four to a page, and used for meditation on the various
elemental forces. The large symbol on the cards represents the core element;
the smaller symbol within the larger element represents the aspect of the
element — thus a silver moon within a black egg is the Water of Spirit.!
! Each card should be subject to study and meditation, until the card may
be used as a gateway or portal to the specific qualities of that aspect of the
elements. Israel Regardie said of the Tattwa cards that they are best made for
oneself, and that they are not common symbols in western magic in part to
help ensure that the brain is not deliberately deceiving itself about the truth
of contact with the elemental forces.
