NOVEMBER 27,2019 HUMSS 122-02 CULMINATING ACTIVITY
Even as a youth, I observed the different problems my locality are experiencing.
Looking back remembering traveling to Manila, garbage amd human wastes everywhere. At some time you will be confused; seas should contain salt water, but instead of having salt waters, we now have sea of garbages. Nowadays, seeing garbage and human wastes seems to be a norm, so the question is, will there be a change? Garbage and human wastes was a big issue since then but because of it not being solved, we tend to overlooked it now. Canals filled with wastes, overloaded trash bins and sacks and mainly irresponsible people fearlessly throwing wastes whether it be in canals or roads. All of this factors are the effects of one and only thing; undisciplined people, stubborn and reckless people who doesn't care about our environment. How can I say? The effects of garbage and human wastes are so obvious even in the eyes of a child, so basically, everyone knew about it but not everyone cares about it. Our government have done a bunch of campaigns to solve this matter, say for example, waste management and waste segregation. These were all effective ways of reducing garbages or wastes if done correctly and unified, unfortunately it wasn't. I can conclude this because as of today garbages and human wastes still a problem. One proverbs say "what you reap is what you saw". Humans reaping irresponsible wastes management so now we are suffering or should I say "sawing" its effects. Floods happen even in the lightest rains, natural waters overflowing, other living things are suffering. Even that what you think a small candy wrapper can cause us big time, you don't have any valid reason to sugarcoat you waste throwing thing. To sum it all up, waste only providing us no good and that it is an issue needed a permanent solution. The question is, what solution can we somehow provide? Solutions and recommendations runs the senate for so long and the good news is, projects has been done providing a clear good result, like for example, Manila Bay clean-up drive and Boracay rehabilitation and we keep on doing this, even in our little barangays, not just in famous landmarks, we'll surely have a better result, especially if we do it with unity and compassion, one-by-one it's our responsibility. While scrolling in facebook, something caught my attention, a vlog about how Singapore completely eliminates their wastes by burning it, but not the usual burning whereas creating wind pollution rather, wastea are being surrendered in a factory, there they will burned it thus trapping the smoke and converting this smoke to oxygen that humans needed in order to survive. I can't clearly entail and remember the Science behind it, but one thing's for sure, it's a modern solution for a modern problem. One solution I am looking up to be implemented here and abroad. Change should start from us and all the good things will follow.
