Scilesson - Week 3 - Day 1
Scilesson - Week 3 - Day 1
Outcome(s) of Lesson: (Blooms or I can statement)
1. Compare samples of various kinds of rock, and identify similarities and differences.
4. Recognize that rocks are composed of a variety of materials; and given a course grained rock and magnifier, describe some of the component
materials.
How will I know students have achieved the learning outcome(s)?
Student will go to a certain part of the room if they thin a picture on the slideshow is a rock or a mineral
If called on after rock has been shown and they picked a sides, students will be able to tell me why it is a rock or a mineral.

Unit: _____Science Lesson – Week 3 __ Lesson #: ___1_
then tell them the right answer! You will do this 10 times (the slides are not in a pattern so
that they need to think about it)
How do I differentiate for ALL learners? Accommodations (ISP’s)
Beginning: Rock and mineral tags on walls, if they get overwhelmed by the moving they can sit in I am going to put the words rock and
their desk and point. mineral up on the wall near where they
are supposed to stand, that way they
Developing: Same as beginning can see them. This activity has no
reading or writing so they should feel
Achieving: like they can achieve this.
M– will have aid in the room, she will
Exceeding: just help her to keep up with peers, if
she isn’t handling the moving around
well she can sit in her desk and point to
where she would go.
K – will also need help, I will ask him
personally each round what he thinks it
is and why
D – will probably go to the side with the
least amount of students because he
dislikes crowds, I will ask him if he
would rather stay in his desk.
Transition: (what will students do when they are finished?, how will we move to the next learning opportunity?)
• If we were to finish early we would go over what the three types of rocks learned about last week were and add those to a wall in
our classroom, I am planning to make a word wall with them next class but we could start early if we needed too!
CLOSURE:
• Thank you for working so hard to learn what rocks and minerals are, next time we have science class we will be looking at the
similarities and differences of rocks
Lesson Plan Analysis: Using your lesson above, describe the following: (This information MUST be in your learning opportunities)
