INTRODUCTION:- Single pole supports — RS joists, PSC poles and Tubular poles are use normally for 33 KV and 11 KV transmission lines. These single pole supports are provided with guys, Stays and struts at line deviation angle points, road crossing, inhabited areas so as to ensure stability of supports. The guys stays or struts occupy space. It is difficult to get Necessary corridor in urban areas and inhabited localities. The extent to which the stays are to be tightened depends on the unbalanced force (or pull) on the pole. The stay is to be erected in the proper direction and tightened optimally so as to counter the unbalanced force on the pole. It is often difficult to access this force and its direction of action. The PSC poles and RS joists are not expandable vertically. These single pole Supports cannot therefore provide necessary electrical clearances over structures, dwellings, huts and vegetation in urban and other inhabited areas. For negotiating railway crossings, and road crossings, it is obligatory to erect self supporting latticed towers. Itis in this context that the use of self supporting latticed towers has become an important option for erection of 33 KV and 11 KV lines in urban areas and at special locations. These towers are expandable vertically in four stages each 3m, 6m, 9m and 12m extensions. The towers with extensions facilitate obtain necessary clearances at railway crossings and other obligatory locations. In this manual, M type of 33 KV large angle/ dead end double circuit is described. This manual consists of designs of tower with extension and foundation thereof. The construction activities related to erection of lines are also described. Single line diagram, structural drawing and foundation drawing are also furnished in this manual. These drawings may be issued for ‘fabrication of tower parts lying of foundation and erection of tower at site’. 2 see sffror efenow for feraor ferorer UTTAR DAKSHIN HARYANA BLT VITRAN NIGAM ‘SVN M TYPES POWER ADVANTAGES ARE AS FOLLOWS:- + The M type tower is supposed to carry electrical power lines voltage exceeding of 33 KV. * The height of M type tower is supported 22m clearance above the ground level for straining of line. + The M type towers can be used for stringing of double circuit lines and provisions for street light cable crossings available. + The M type tower span (road & river crossings) can be support length exceeding 100m. ‘* These clearances have been fixed taking into consideration the overall height of vehicles and the statutory provisions of the Indian electricity rules. ‘* More feeders can be carried by the same tower 2HT, 2LT, HT/LT, HT/2LT may cross the road in the same location. + The solution reduces the no. of crossings, and also in future additional new crossing may be avoided. The span length between the towers may be increased and there is no need of intermediate pole along the road corridor. * The vertical clearance with the live line to the road corridor could accommodate additional feeder crossing on the same location 33 KV LARGE ANGLE / DEAD END DOUBLE CIRCUIT TOWER TYPE M:- The type of tower to be erected at any location depends on the angle of deviation of line. It also depends on whether the location is to negotiate a railway crowing of state of central highways. The tower extensions are designed for M type. The tower extensions are to be used to obtain the statutory electrical clearances while crossing railway tracks, highways or any structures along the route of the line The M type tower is narrow based and width or tower is chosen as 0.750m. for the purpose of designing the 33 KV double circuit towers, the characteristics of DOG ACSR are considered. 30f9 CONDUC" sea efor efenon frac feeror fret UTTAR DAKSHIN HARYANA SLILI VITRAN NIGAM iBYN M type tower is a large angle tower, which can take line deviation upto an angle of 60 degrees. This tower can also be erected as a dead end/ terminal tower. This tower is erected as a straight line cut point at obligatory locations of road crossings, railway crossings, canal crossing and locations of longer spans. The M type tower is a double circuit tower designed to be strung with DOG. ACSR or equivalent AAAC. This is narrow based tower with straight alignment. This leg member of the towers are butt jointed. There are two insulator strings for each phase conductor. Each sting consists of three 11 KV ball and socket type porcelain disc insulators. Alternatively silicon rubber insulators are also used. The hardware sets for each phase conductor consists of one strain plate(common), two D shackles or another shackles, Two ball-eyes, two socket-eyes and two tension clamps. Ground wire peak is not provided. One of the four legs of each tower is to be connected to pipe earthing provided at tower location. TOR CHARACTERISTICS:- 33 KV lines are strung with DOG ACSR or equivalent all aluminum alloy conductor. This conductor is standardized for use on all 33 KV lines in India. The outline diagram is shown in fig (1) annexed. These dimensions of towers are taken into consideration for calculation of loads on towers design of superstructure DESIGN OF 33 KV DOUBLE CIRCUIT ANGLE TOWER TYPE M- PARAMETERS CONSIDERED:- The various loading on the tower type M are calculated as per IS 802 and CBIP transmission manual. The tower is to be erected as double circuit angle tower strung with DOG ACSR The tower is designed for the deviation upto 60 degrees angle and for dead end conditions. Calculated value of wind pressure of 130 Kg / Sq. m on full protected area of tower members is considered for calculation of wind load on towers. Calculated value of wind pressure of 45 kg per Sq. m full projected area of conductor is considered for calculation of load on tower due to wind on conductor. The conductor tension at 32 degrees C and no wind is taken as 400 kgs. This value is less than 25% of UTS of DOG ACSR Calculated value of tension of the conductor at 32 degrees C and full wind is 648 kgs. Transverse component of conductor tension = 2T sin @/2 i conductor Tension = 648 Kgs. 2 Angle of deviation = 60 degrees Transverse component of tension acting at each cross arm = 2x648xsing (60/2) x648x0.5 = 648 Kgs. The M type tower is designed to be erected as dead end towers at terminal points. Longitudinal forces of 648 Kgs. Technical and economic viability is also examined before selecting the route. * Survey is conducted on the proposed route alignment as detailed below: a) The proposed alignment is drawing on survey of India map. Obligatory angle location are marked and walk though is conducted, b) It may be considered that at least one angle point may be introduced for line length of ten spans. All the angle points selected above may be marked on the route map. ©) Details of ground levels along the route may be noted and tower extensions to be erected may be decided based on detailed survey. ) Nature of soil along there route may be noted. If the soil is soft, the tower grounding will be affective. Otherwise altemate arrangement is to be made. e) If canal bed or river bed locations become obligatory special river bed foundations have to be designed for towers. * The sub transmission and HV line normally pass through plain areas or undulated terrain with marginal steepness. If the lines are to cross tall structures minimum clearance of 3.700 m above the structure is to be maintained and appropriate tower extension is to be erected. * Ifthe 33 KV and 11 KV lines have to cross the railway tracks and highway only self supporting latticed type towers are to be erected. The crossing arrangements are to be planned meticulously so as to meet the statutory norms. ay UTTAR DAKSHIN HARYANA SLIT VITRAN NIGAM ‘BYN GB sex efor efferow fort recor freer Detailed proposals are to be prepared for railway crossings and necessary approvals obtained.
