Safety  Diver  Program    Learning  Agreement  
Welcome  to  the  Good  Life  Divers/ASFC  Public  Safety  Diver  training  program.  We’re  conBident  that  
you  will  Bind  your  dive  training  both  challenging  and  rewarding.  To  learn  and  practice  important  
concepts  and  skills  for  using  life-­‐support  equipment  underwater,  you  must  invest  the  time  needed  
to  do  it.  This  learning  agreement  is  between  you  (the  student  diver/PSD  Candidate)  and  our  
instructional  staff  regarding  our  mutual  responsibilities  in  this  program.  

Student  Diver  Responsibili2es  

I  _____________________________________  agree  to  study  independently  as  speciBied  by  the  instructor.  In  
general,  this  means  that  before  each  practical  session,  I  will:  
• Complete  the  assigned  knowledge  development  portion  of  the  course,  including:  
o Read/Watch  the  assigned  manual  or  video.  
o Complete  the  assigned  Knowledge  review(s)  
o Complete  the  Final  Exam  (as  assigned)  
o Complete  any  supplemental  material  assigned  to  me  

In  addition,  I  agree  to:  


• Follow  all  course  procedures  as  set  forth  by  my  instructor  
• Ask  questions  about  anything  not  understood  
• Be  on  time  and  be  prepared  for  each  session  

If  I  do  not  follow  the  points  above,  I  understand  that  I  may  need  to  reschedule  practical  sessions,  on    
a  case  by  case  basis  and  that  I’m  responsible  for  any  additional  cost  related  to  this.  In  scheduling  
and  determining  additional  cost,  Good  Life  Divers  agrees  to  give  every  reasonable  consideration  to  
unforeseen  events.    

I  understand  any  and  all  course  fees  and  expenses  are  non-­‐refundable.  

The  Public  Safety  Diver  program  consist  of  the  following  courses,  Open  Water  Diver,  Dry  suit  diver,  
Advanced  Open  Water  diver,  Full  Face  mask  diver,  rescue  diver,  First  aid  and  CPR  and  Public  Safety  
Diver.  All  the  courses  listed  are  intended  to  be  taken  as  a  GROUP  and  pricing  for  the  course  reBlects  
this.  Make  up  sessions  will  be  considered  on  a  case  by  case  basis.      

In  order  to  become  eligible  to  participate  in  the    Public  Safety  diver  course,  a  candidate  must  obtain  
all  certiBications  prior  to  the  course  start  date  OR  participate  and  pass  the  course  as  a  Public  safety  
surface  support  tender.      

The  Atlantic  Steamer  Fire  co  agrees  to  pay  for  the  candidate  to  take  all  the  courses  required  
to  become  eligible  and  including  the  Public  Safety  diver  course/Surface  support  course.  The  
PSD  candidate  must  pass  all  courses  leading  up  to  and  including  the  PSD  course.    

If  the  candidate  fails  or  drops  out  of  the  program  at  any  point  and  DOES  NOT  COMPLETE  THE  
PSD  COURSE  AS  A  SURFACE  SUPPORT  TENDER  during  the  next  following  scheduled  PSD  
Course,  they  will  be  responsible  for  all  of  the  course  and  book  fees  paid  up  to  that  point  and  
will  be  made  indebted  to  the  company  until  that  debt  is  paid.      
Instructor/Staff  Responsibili2es  

The  course  instructor  and  staff  agree  to:  


• Start  the  class  as  scheduled.  
• Provide  a  positive  learning  environment.  
• Answer  your  questions  to  the  best  of  our  ability.  
• Assist  you  through  any  course  challenges.  
• Provide  opportunities  for  as  many  knowledge  development,  conBined  water  dives  and  open  
water  dives  as  necessary  for  you  to  comfortably  master  course-­‐performance  objectives.  The  
course  fee  is  based  on  an  average,  and  includes  all  knowledge  development  assessments,  
ConBined  water  dives  and  Open  water  dives.  Because  people  learn  skills  at  different  rates,  
but  the  courses  are  intended  to  be  taken  as  a  group-­‐  the  courses  are      —    group  centered  and  
performance-­‐based,  not  time  based.  Additional  sessions  may  be  needed  for  you  to  
comfortably  meet  course  objectives  for  certiBication.  Course  fees  and  additional  sessions  
fees  are  as  listed  on  the  fee  schedule.
