Common Application essay 2nd Draft

Common Application prompt:

Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual
challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance,
no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be
taken to identify a solution.
I want to save the world. I know that “save the world” is a lot, but by “saving the world,” I
actually mean the entire world: developing countries, first world countries, the only one
biosphere, encompassing all locations on the planet that can sustain life known to humankind.
The world problems I want to impact include the lack of sustainability of endangered animals,
the climate change affecting human and animal habitats, and lastly, raising awareness for such
problems our planet is currently facing. I want to study animal science and environmental
studies. My animal science degree will give me the skills and knowledge necessary to help ill
animals, while my environmental studies degree will give me the knowledge necessary to
become an environmental educator. My passion for animals and earth conservation came at a
young age and has rarely left my mind.
As a little girl, I was always a decisive person and determined that one day I will make a
change in this world. To start, as a 4-year-old, I watched a lot of animal tv shows. These shows
were an introduction to animal traits and habitats. Television introduced environmentally-
friendly activities in my life. Thus, I believe in a more efficient way of life: reduce, reuse, recycle.
My childhood propelled me to live my life as an environmentalist. After watching all that
television, I included books to my learning methods, mostly picked up books about marine
biology and the ocean for that was my primary fixation in the first grade. After the first grade my
academic interest has developed to a more structured plan on how and why I want to do for the
rest of my life and who is it going to benefit from it other me.
I don’t like being the center of my thinking, because I know and feel part of a bigger
community whether that be the world or just my local school. I connect to the world through
travel, knowledge, and with the various amount of problems facing our world, I want to focus on
animal medicine and conservation first. I want to help the world through a variety of solutions
that can give my generation, and future generations, a chance to live a better life without hurting
the earth. I want to do everything, after pursuing my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, I will
help save us and the animals’ home-- earth. The next step is giving our host planet more time to
help the species live longer. By helping conservation research projects save marine life through
promoting the use of environmentally friendly products, and assisting with many animal rescues
-- anywhere that can use help, I will make a difference.
I would also like to help address global warming and work to reverse the effects it has
already harmed our environment and life on the planet. There are also other creative, alternative
ways that we can help the earth that I would personally want to participate in promoting the use
of recycled clothing and more eco-friendly accessories, either by making them, marketing them -
- devising any way that would help reduce the impact of global warming on future generations.
With these projects, I can be part of the effort to reverse climate change one step at a time.
After some years of research and contributing to my community, I would also love to teach
about this sort of subject in a learning environment that would help inspire other people to make
a change in the world for the greater good of the earth. I would personally want to help solve the
