LESSON 1

Learning aims: 

During this lesson, learners will be able to…
-To consolidate vocabulary from previous class
- To observe and recognize different parts of the body
- To develop interpersonal skills
- To develop mathematical skills

Learning focus:

The activity will focus on:
-Vocabulary: clothes (shoes, balloon, wig, hat, nose, clown, circles, gloves,
buttons, ice cream, ice cream shop, ice cream bowls)
-Numbers: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve,
thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen and twenty

Integration of skills: 

They will develop their:
- Speaking skills by repetition
- Spatial skills painting inside the circle
- Social skills by participating one at a time, letting the partner talk
- Creative skills getting carried away by the imagination of recreating a place

- Ice cream poster


- Sheets with a clown for coloring

-Start each activity explaining what it is


-Start each activity creating an atmosphere of curiosity and expectation
- Help them to do the activities
- Use a strategy to return to calm that they already know: Ask at which table
they are sitting better/ Raise your hand if you are listening to me
- Ask a student to be the teacher’s assistant if he / she refuses to work

Lead-in and Presentation


PURPOSE:
- Create an environment of imagination and fun

TIMING: 2 minutes
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION AND INSTRUCTIONS AS THEY WILL BE SAID
TO STUDENTS:
- Tell them: today we will go to an imaginary ice cream shop,
where you will build your own ice cream tower
- This poster will be pasted on the board:

Development of the sequence of activities

ACTIVITY 1: Your own ice cream tower


PURPOSE:
- That students can follow the instructions
- That students can stick ice cream scoops neatly
TIMING: 10 minutes
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION AND INTRUCTIONS AS THEY WILL BE SAID TO
STUDENTS:
- Students will be told that now is the time to build their own ice cream
tower
- They will be told that they must put the amount of scoops that the
teacher says (showing the flashcard)
- An example will be made on the board
- There will be distributed an ice cream cone on a blank sheet and
separately 20 ice cream bowls.
- The teacher will say: Put 1 scoop of ice cream .. Put 5 scoops of ice
cream .. And so on until it is finished with 20 bowls.
- Once it is finished, the scoops will be counted simultaneously, one by
one

SCAFFOLDING STRATEGIES:
- Assemble the ice cream cone on the board, together with the students
- Repeat several times the number of scoops that must be placed
- Point the scoops while counting

THE NEXT ONE:
“Very good, now is the time to prepare the clown George who will visit
the ice cream shop. We must help him to color his circles. Without your
help he will not be able to go to the ice cream shop.”

ACTIVITY 2: Coloring the clown's clothes


PURPOSE:
- That the students can share the material
- That the students use different didactic materials
TIMING: 10 minutes

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION AND INTRUCTIONS AS THEY WILL BE SAID TO


STUDENTS:
- Several containers with light blue watercolor will be placed on
each table
- Students will be explained that they should dip their index finger
in the watercolor in order to paint as many circles as the teacher
indicates
- The teacher will say: Paint one circle ... Paint two circles ... And
so on until they paint the 15 circles that the clown has (on his
clothes, his cheeks and his nose).

SCAFFOLDING STRATEGIES:
- As the teacher says the number of circles to be painted, she will paste
the same amount on a copy of the clown that will be placed on the board.

The clown is very happy that you have helped him, but now he really

ACTIVITY 3: Clown accessories


PURPOSE:
-That students review previously seen vocabulary about clothing
- Students participating all together

TIMING: 7 minutes

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION AND INTRUCTIONS AS THEY WILL BE SAID TO


STUDENTS:

- Students will be shown a closed box containing the different


accessories for the clown
- The teacher will take out one accessory at a time, asking if they know
what it is, explaining its name, and asking where they think it can go.
- Several wrong options will be indicated until the teacher asks to put
the accessory in the right place
- This sequence will be repeated until the clown is fully dressed.
