SYNOPSIS

NATIONAL INSTITUTE
OF FASHION
TECHNOLOGY (NIFT)
INTRODUCTION:
 National institute of fashion technology(NIFT) is a fashion institute in
india. It was set up in 1986 under the aegis of ministry of textiles,
government of india and is an institution of design, management and
technology for international fashion business.

AIM:
 To understand both geometry & amorphous form as a tool for
development of plan and to create a holistic architectural experience
in a coherent body of knowledge from inside as well as outside of the
building from internal to exterior environment

OBJECTIVE:
 To understand the role of architecture and forms applied in design of
institute
 To understand space as innovative interaction points from transition
to interactive spaces offering a range of quality like public to private,
quiet to lively, sober to vividly
 It must depict Indian culture, traditions, aesthetic sensitivity and
heritage to create an Indian idiom of design
 To understand the unity of the entire campus by scale, form, colour,
texture, light and other architectural characteristic of spaces
 Landscape should play an important role to enhance creativity and to
create an environment which is ecologically, culturally & mentally
suited

SCOPE & LIMITATION:


 To focus on spaces should encourage visual & verbal collision
 Design will be explored in the basis of proportion where functions
play major role to generate built form
 To create an environment and to collide with people, places and item
 Design does not focus on services such as HVAC, electric supply
system, plumbing rather than functionally and space
METHODOLOGY:
 Formal Study of scale and proportions in institutional buildings
 Development of a design will be by the implementation of inferences
from the literature case study & live case study

SITE: COIMBATORE
 Site located at saravanampatti athipalayam road Coimbatore
 Saravanampatti is one of the fastest growing neighbourhoods of
Coimbatore it lies on the sathyamangalam road of NH 209,which is
one of the most routes via Coimbatore
 Surrounded large number of top colleges and schools in the area is
called as education hub of Coimbatore city
 SITE = approx 10 acres

 Pilambedu & periyanaikanpalayam railway station- 6.6km
& 9.3km
