Recruiting Form

Greetings future students and members of this fantastic music program. Being a part of this
music program will benefit you in striving for success and pushing you to become the best you
can be as a student and as a musician. It is in important that you read the following forms as
they will inform you on expectations and standards we have here on campus and in the music
room.

Everyone who wishes to be apart of the music program is more than welcome to join whether
they have music experience or not. ALL ARE WELCOME!!!

Care For your Instrument


Being a part of this program, you will learn how to properly care for your instrument since they
are very delicate and become expensive to repair if damaged. Understand majority of the time
an instrument gets damaged is due lack of care towards the instrument. Following my
guidelines will reduce the chance of any instrumental damage significantly. If you are renting an
instrument from your local music shop or if it is your own personal instrument; you are
responsible for any damages made to the instrument.

New and Curious?


Generally, when a student new to a music program with no experience playing an instrument
will want to play an instrument, they are familiar with like the saxophone or the drums. Please
take my word when I say there are much more exciting and “cooler” instruments to experiment
with. When I say cooler instruments I mean:

clarinet, oboe, bassoon, tenor saxophone


french horn, baritone, euphonium, tuba, trombone
cello, string bass

Things to consider
All instruments are shaped in different sizes and meant for kids of all sizes. For example, if you
are someone with long arms, you want to consider playing trombone. Some one with big hands
will consider bassoon, cello, string bass. Those who are tall and have big hands would possibly
consider tenor saxophone, baritone, euphonium, baritone, or even the tuba.
