Region Band Audition Information

Dear Band Students and Parents,

Region Band Auditions are scheduled for October 21-22, 2022. This year the auditions will be at Hodges Bend Middle School located at
16510 Bissonet, Houston, TX 77083. Please read carefully to see which day or days your child will be performing. Included with this
letter is an itinerary, general information, rules, and procedures for Region Auditions.

Attire for all Band students for Region Band Auditions:

New QVMS Band T-shirt and/or hoodie, Jeans and closed toe shoes

Instruments – Oboe, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Sax, Bari-Sax, Euphonium, and Tuba.

Students that are auditioning on Friday will be transported to Hodges Bend MS by bus from QVMS, but will need to be picked up from
Hodges Bend by a parent once the auditions are complete (there will not be a bus returning to QVMS when auditions are done). Students
will be provided dinner on Friday by the QVMS Band Directors. Ending times vary depending on when each room finishes.

Bassoon – Rm. 901 (Theater Room - NEW) Tuba – Rm. 1112 (Orchestra Room)

Instruments - PHASE I and II auditions for Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion
Auditions for all other instruments: Alto Sax & French Horn.

Due to different start and stop times, parents will need to provide transportation to Hodges Bend MS for students that are auditioning on
Saturday. Students may leave once their instrument auditions are over, and their results have been posted. Food will not be provided for
students on Saturday, but there will be a concession stand available during the event on both days. Students may bring money to purchase
various foods, snacks, and drinks.

All students are to report to the Cafeteria when they arrive at Hodges Bend MS on Saturday. An announcement will be made to
tell them when to go to the audition rooms. PLEASE ENTER HBMS ONLY THROUGH THE BUS RAMP located on the left
(West) side of the school.

The following students will need to report to the cafeteria at HBMS by 8:20 a.m. Saturday morning.
Flute A – Rm. 1517 Trumpet A – Rm. 1008 (Art room)
Flute B – Rm. 1511/1510 Trumpet B – Rm. 904 (Choir Room)
Clarinet A – Rm. 2411 (upstairs) Trombone A – Rm. 2510 (upstairs)

Alto Saxophone – Rm 1405/1406 French Horn – Rm 2515 (upstairs)

Percussion C – Rm. (Timpani) 1112 (Orchestra Room)

Students who advance from Phase I will need to remain at Hodges Bend for Phase II, which will begin one hour after results are
posted. Students should bring a lunch or cash to visit the concession stand in between Phase I and II.

Students may bring cell phones to call parents when their portion of the audition is complete, but must leave them in the Cafeteria or
designated area during auditions. Cells phones are not permitted in the audition rooms. Students caught with any electronic device in
the audition room will be disqualified from the competition. Parents must check their child(ren) out with the chaperone on duty at the
QVMS table in the Hodges MS Cafeteria. No child will be dismissed without a parent present.

General Student Information

1. Appropriate student behavior in the audition rooms, as well as throughout the building, is essential. Please discuss your
expectations with your students. Remember that each school is to have at least one adult chaperone on duty at all
times to help monitor students. Chaperones should sign in/out at the information table in the commons upon arrival.

2. Students should be either in their audition room or in the commons. They will not be allowed to roam the building.
Students and parents will not be allowed to stand outside of audition rooms and listen to auditions in progress.

3. All audition results will be posted virtually and can be accessed via QR code.

4. Instrument repair will be available in the Hall outside the library or cafeteria.

5. Students are encouraged to bring books, card games, etc. to entertain themselves while they wait for the audition results.

6. A concession stand will be available in the commons. Students are to stay in the commons with all food and drinks.

Each school will be responsible for making sure all trash from its area is picked up before you leave the school. Please have
your adult chaperones help students keep their trash picked up throughout the day.
