Science Valentines
Assignment

 Valentine’s Day is February 14th. Let’s celebrate by showing

your knowledge of science. Create a Valentine Card on white

Due February
cardstock. Artwork can be original or copyright free digital
art/clipart. Below you will find some examples. You must
10th have a cover, inside of the card and back of the card. This is an
opportunity to really show your creativity and hopefully have a
little fun too. You can use a full 8 ½ X 11 sheet of cardstock or
you can alter the shape (such as a heart or scalloped shaped
edges).
 Full color cover with a catchy phrase
Example:
If I had to choose between DNA and RNA, I’d choose RNA

because it has U in it.

Requirements  Inside of card (A science themed poem from a concept we have

covered this school year. See the example on the following
slides. The poem must be your original work)
 Back of card (Focus on at least one scientific detail from your
poem)
 Color Scheme: Shades of Red must be included in your color
scheme.
Cover
Example
Nitrogen lingers fully in our lungs.

Oh, strong bond; N2 is teeming.

Catalysts convert it in metric tons.

And Hydrogen reacts again; like a seraph beaming.

Negligible notes nourished dropping rich with

Many possibilities.

First fractions of solitary silence. And now

Inside of Card Molecular melodies.

Example

Can you hear this subtle symphony?

Atoms assent; orbitals are all drumming.

Reactivity.

Energies shift and bonds may be broken but,

Molecules are strumming.

And the universe keeps softly humming…

 Did You Know?
The air in the Earth's atmosphere is 78 % nitrogen, 20.95 %
oxygen and small amounts of other gases including argon, carbon
Back of Card dioxide, and hydrogen. Since nitrogen will not be part of the air

Example breathed in, it will build up and sit in the lungs until exhaled.
