I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students with 85% of mastery are able to:
a. identify different rhyme scheme in poetry;
b. show interest to the lesson through recitation; and
c. compose a limerick poem.
Abstraction
End rhymes- rhyming words that appear only at the end of the lines of poems
Rhyme Scheme- pattern to which end rhymes are being repeated in poetry.
- represented by letters. Each letter in the rhyme scheme
represents one line in a poem.
Example: Roses are red. A
Violets are blue. B
I’m out of my head. A
While thinking of you. B
Limerick- poem consists of five lines with the rhyme scheme “AABBA”
Examples: There was once a child in Spain.
Who loved to play in the rain.
One day he tripped,
And broke his hip,
Now he is in serious pain.
There once was a fly on the wall,
I wonder why didn't it fall.
Because its feet stuck,
Or was it just luck,
Or does gravity miss things so small?
Application
Directions: In a ¼ sheet of paper, compose a limerick poem and identify its rhyme
scheme.
Criteria:
Proper structure of the poem 5
Correct use of rhyme scheme 5
Total: 10
IV. ASSIGNMENT
Choose one of your favorite song or poem. Write the lyrics and label the song
or poem’s rhyme scheme.
Do it in short bond paper.
