A Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in English 9

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students with 85% of mastery are able to:
a. distinguish non-gradable adjectives and adverb from gradable
adjectives and adverb;
b. use adverb of degree in sentences properly;
c. show interest to the lesson through recitation; and
d. construct sentences using adverbs of degree.

The class will be divided into groups. Each group will label the thermometer
using the words given.

Analysis
1. What can you observe from the arrangement of the label in the thermometer?
2. How were you able to tell that the label is arrange from cold to hot/ hot to
cold/ decreasing to increasing/ increasing to decreasing?
3. Why are the adjectives freezing and boiling don’t have modifiers?

Abstraction
Adverbs of degree- are words that we can use to describe the intensity/degree
of an adjective, verb or adverb.
- It answers the questions to what extent or how much or how
little.
Adverb of degree modifying adjectives

Gradable adjective- A gradable adjective can be used with "grading adverbs"


that vary the adjective's grade or intensity.
Grading adverbs Gradable adjectives
a little, extremely, fairly, hugely, angry, big, busy, cold, deep, fast,
intensely, rather, slightly, unusually, friendly, good, happy, high, hot, long,
very, too, extremely popular, rich, strong, tall, weak, young

Non- gradable adjective- non-gradable adjectives do not have different degrees.

3. Harry worked hard enough.
IV. EVALUATION
Encircle the adverb of degree and underline the word it modifies in each
sentences.

Application
Directions: The class will be divided into two sets (set A and set B). Each set will
be given different tasks.
