Bronte’s Got Talent

Saturday night saw our second Bronte's Got Talent final in a packed School Jall. Always eagerly
anticipated, our finalists did not disappoint with an array of talent ranging from singing, dancing,
rapping all the way to magic tricks. The event was enhanced by the use of a new sound and
lighting system courtesy of Bronte Friends.

The audience smiled and applauded for the entire evening until the judging panel (which included
Miss Millie and Mr Rockall joining Mr Hardwick), gave their verdict. In a tense moment with Mrs
Wood announcing the results, the following children received their prizes and news that they will
be performing at our Bronte Festival at Cobham Hall:

In 3rd place - Jonathan (Year 5) rocked out with a vocal solo and air guitar to Black Sabbath, in
2nd place - Amber and Alina (Year 3) who sprung their way through a breathless Bhangra routine
and our winner in 1st place was Hannah (Year 6) performing an incredibly bendy and courageous
contemporary dance solo which had the audience on the edge of their seats.

For a final opportunity to see them share the same stage in public, make sure you are at the
Bronte Festival on 23rd June!

Year 6 at the beach…..

On Wednesday of this week, Year 6 journeyed
down to St Margaret's Bay to study coastal
erosion, sea defences and long shore drift.
They were blessed with wonderful weather and
had a go at rock-pooling before the actual
'lesson' began. They had lunch on the sea wall
and this was followed by a 'Good to be Green'
treat of an ice cream - a perfect end to a very
interesting day.

Sportshall Athletics – Report by Mr Johnson

On Thursday 12 children from Years 3&4
took part in the Sportshall Athletics Kent
Games Qualifier. A mixture of track races in
teams (including 4x1 Relay, Obstacle Races
and the endurance 6 lap paarluf race) and
field events (such as javelin, long jump and
speed bounce) were competed in by 14
schools from our area.
Bronte finished 4th overall and were it not
for a couple of shoes falling off at the wrong
time and an unfortunate trip we may well
have finished higher!
A great day, brilliantly
organised, our children
really did me proud.

Well done to Taya,

Shaan, Ore, Temi,
Temilola, Alina,
Thomas, Jai, Bailey,
Daisy, Eesha & Denzel!

The Whitehead Shield - Girls Football Final

Report by Mr Johnson

On Tuesday our brilliant female footballers played in Bronte’s FIRST EVER girls football final. We had to
win 3 matches to get this far, getting down to the last 2 from an initial 16 schools.

On a very hot day and a pitch as big as Wembley the girls did themselves proud, but could not overcome a
very good Meopham team, eventually going down to a 3-0 defeat.

It was great to see a team of whom none have played football outside of school compete so well
(Meopham had 3 county players in their 7!) and most importantly enjoy it. Personally I am a huge
advocate of women and girls football (my first ever job in teaching / coaching was Crystal Palace Ladies
Team about a million years ago!) and I’m so glad that we are now not only entering these tournaments,
but doing so well!

Well done to Anjola, Melisa, Haadiya, Demi, Indie, Amira, Alisia & especially to
Taya ( a year 3 playing against year 6 girls!!!!)

A hero does good for good, not glory for glory

On Tuesday Year 1 shared what they have been learning this term about ‘SUPERHEROES’ during their class
assembly!

The children shared the book ‘Emergency’ by Magaret Mayo. They used their actions and wonderful
acting skills to remind us about the ‘people who help us’ in our community. There were policemen,
doctors and nurses and even a mountain rescue crew!

Year 1 took then us back in time and acted out short sketches to portray heroes such as Florence
Nightingale and Emmeline Pankhurst. They made us reflect on important heroic traits such as bravery and
selflessness! Next the children told the audience who their favourite fictional superheroes were. They
showed off their fantastic dance moves and beautiful singing voices.

Year 1 children lastly shared photos and kind words about their Superhero parents!!! Who knew Bronte’s
parents had so many hidden super powers!! After all that hard work the children enjoyed a special ice-
lolly treat for their heroic performance! Well deserved!

Such a variety of talent in Year 1! Well done for a wonderful performance.

Bronte School transformed into Charlie's Chocolate Factory for cookery club this week! The children made
scrumptious chocolate mug cakes with chocolate spread and sprinkles! As usual, the children were
beautifully behaved. They had to accurately measure, carefully stir and sensibly sprinkle. A big thank you
to Miss Coker who helped Miss Walters this week.
