Q: How can my students earn money for Ukraine?
A: Submit a YouTube link for each student with one completed level.

Q: How much money is earned with the submission of each video?

A: Each video submitted earns $5.00 for Ukraine.

Q: Can I submit a YouTube without a teacher?

A: No, all submissions need to go through your flute teacher or band director.
Also, all correspondence needs be through your teacher.

Q: How do I know which level to submit first?

A: High school students and younger should ask their teachers to determine which
level to submit.

Q: What level should university students submit?

A: University students must start with Level 3 and record with a metronome set at a minimum of 120 = quarter note.

Q: How do I submit a completed level.

A: Teachers must submit a YouTube link to their student(s) scales. If the student/parent wants to have the YouTube be private, the link
should be unlisted. If it can be shared, it should be listed as public.

Q: Where should the video be submitted

A: On the @flutescales Facebook page with the Scales for Ukraine banner, click on message.
Include these 5 items:
1) Teacher’s Name
2) YouTube videos link
3) Name of Student as it should appear on the certificate
4) Level completed
5) Teacher email to send the certificate

Q: Will students also earn a certificate for each level completed?

A: Yes, and earned certificates that will be sent directly to teachers.
Q: Where does this money come from or do I need to raise the money myself?
A: Blocki Flute Method has set-aside/will donate $1,000.00 or 200 submissions.

Q: Where will the money be donated?

A: We have chosen EMF which is insuring that 100% of the donation go directly the immediate needs of Ukrainian refugees or those
inside Ukraine needing help. They will distribute the donations to churches who have converted their buildings to refugee centers.

Q: How can I receive a PDF of all the files?

A: All PDFs are available on the Facebook page.

Q: Is this only for United States?

A: No, anyone can do this challenge and earn money for supporting Ukraine.

Q: How can I make a matching grant?

A: Yes, please send a message.
Levels for Flute Scales for Ukraine Challenge
Teacher should select the appropriate track (A or B) and level for each student.
Flute Scales
for
Teacher’s may have students progress through either track A or B or a combination of the Ukraine
two tracks. Students who previously earned certificates cannot repeat the same level in
which the certificate was earned.
There are two tracks.

1) A Levels 1-4

a) A Level 1 = Beginners–students who have played up to 4 years. Play through the different beat levels with the metronome at or higher
than 60=a quarter note. (Student who have played for less than 2 years can opt to not play the sixteenth note measures.)

b) A Level 2 = Beginning/Intermediate–students who have played for several years. Teachers should determine if this level is appropriate.
The metronome at or higher than 80 = a quarter note. Tonguing can use single- or double-tonguing syllables.
c) A Level 3 = Intermediate-Metronome at or higher than 90 = a quarter note with double-tonguing syllables.
d) A Level 4 = (NEW) Monster Mash high note and chromatic scale study. This should only be done by students who can play the 3rd octave
of the flute without tension. This provides practice on the third octave turn-a-round notes of major scales and the chromatic scale.
e) A Level 5 = Advanced–Students who are playing two octave scales. Teachers should determine if this level is appropriate. The
metronome at or higher than 100 = a quarter note. Tonguing should use double tonguing syllables.

2) B Levels 1-6 follow the required scales for the RMC (Royal Music Conservatory) Exams

a) Beginners should first complete the A Level 1

b) B Level 1 quarter note = 60+ and teacher determines the articulations.
c) B Level 2 quarter note = 60+ and teacher determines the articulations.
d) B Level 3 quarter note = 60+ and teacher determines the articulations.
e) B Level 4 quarter note = 72+ and teacher determines the articulations.
f) B Level 5 quarter note = 80+ and teacher determines the articulations.
g) B Level 6 quarter note = 80+ and teacher determines the articulations.
h) B Level 7 All major in minor (harmonic or melodic) scales with arpeggios in 16th notes. Quarter note = 60
