Reasons why we should reduce work to 4 days per week

 Work/life balance
 Whilst this point may seem to be the most obvious, it is definitely the most important.
Many employees are parents who want to be able to fit their work around life, not the
other way around. As many working parents may know, or have perhaps experienced,
there seems to be a (ridiculous) unwritten rule that you have to choose between work
and family - why can’t you be allowed to work flexibly and have both?
 Even for those without children, like me, the work/life balance is still just as important.

 Health
 According to The Guardian(2017): “12.5m work days were lost because of work-related
stress, depression or anxiety”. Stress can heighten the risk of all manner of health
problems, from high blood pressure to strokes.
 Research even suggests that working long hours increases the risk of excessive
drinking.

 “Underemployed” workers
 Indeed, a deeply unhealthy distribution of work scars our society. While some are
working too much, with damaging consequences for their health and family lives, there
are 3.3 million or so “underemployed” workers who want more hours.
