Business 303 Module 4 DB the Art of Connecting

When hiring a leader or manager in this business era, communication is considered to be

the most imperative skill that one should possess. However, anyone can communicate but it is

few that connect (Perkins, 2010). An effective manager should not only be persuasive but also

ensure responsibility, support, premeditated association and motivation to his/her team. Even

though most people do not like updating or changing organizational policies, it is important to

change them often so as to keep up with the changing business world.

As a CEO of a large company, I try to find the best way to communicate policy changes

to my employees. The main reason behind this is that as much as these changes in policy affect

the overall performance of a company, they also have an impact on the employees. As a leader,

you do not just parade employees and announce to them that there are organizational changes,

rather, one should explain the reason as to why they are happening as well as their expectations.

For instance, if I do not want my employees working from home, I need to make them

understand that it is much easier to get a feel of them and provide useful feedback when they are

around most of the time. In addition, I need to ensure that they are comfortable with this

decision.

Effective communication that enables connecting is an important factor that every

successful leader should grow so as to achieve professional success. When employees learn how

to communicate effectively through their leaders, it will not only help them complete their tasks

successfully but also enable an organization to achieve success and growth (Rajhans, 2012). It is

easier for a manager to get work done by his/her team members by interacting with them more

efficiently.
