1 S COPE
This document describes the procedure to configure the serials on a PC or server for MOXA NPort drivers.

2 R EQUESTS
To install the MOXA NPort drivers are need:
 A PC or server with Windows Xp or superior.
 The drivers (downloadable on MOXA site). The files are:
o Driver for Windows: drvmgr_setup_Ver1.17_Build_13020109_whql.zip
o Tools: nploc_setup_Ver1.13_Build_12021410.zip

3 P ROCEDURE
1. Copy the drivers on the PC and install them.
2. Install both files with normally procedure.
3. The Tools software permits to detect the NPort devices into the network independently by the network
configuration. This software will be used when the network is installed.
4. The drivers packet installs the “NPort Windows Driver Manager” application. Start it.

5. Press “COM Mapping”  “Import”.

6. Press [Browse] button. In the new window find and select the file “NPORT_SerialMap.ini”. Press [Open].

7. It will create the virtual serial.

8. Select, using [CTRL] button and double click, the lines group. Into new window opened,
o In tag “Advanced Settings” select:
 “Always Accept Open Requests” flag.
 “Drop Writing Data If Network Connection Lost” flag.
o In tag “Serial Parameters” set the serial parameters as:
 Speed: 19200bps;
 Parity: none;
 Data bits: 8;
 Stop bits: 1;
 Flow Control: none.
9. Press “Ok”.
10. At the end press “Apply” button and “Yes” into next window.
11. Wait the operation end and press “OK”. Now the virtual COMs are created and the Driver HMI could be
closed.

4 N OTES
 The COM configuration must be equal on driver, NPORT, user terminal and on external device connected
to NPORT.

 To change the virtual COM configuration or delete it select the COM and press “Remove”, and “Apply”.
This operation MUST be run with the COM ports closed (terminals OFF). If the operation fails (the apply
window remains stopped for some minutes), it must reboot Window and rerun the operation.

 If the antivirus is installed, its should be stopped or the its configuration shouldn’t run on the virtual
ports.

 If the firewall is enabled, the virtual ports must be ignored. It’s highly recommended to turn off the
firewall.
