SESSION DETAILS

A. Studio Interactions :
Each session which is of 3-hour duration will be conducted in the format listed below
 30-45 Mins General Discussion on topics of various kinds, presentations with all students of
both the sections combined.
 Remaining Hours (~2.15) will be for one to one discussion with the scheduled section students
with the facilitator. After the general discussion, the other students can leave or continue to stay
for participation.

B. The Google Classroom :


Open source google sheets will be set up for each student so that any of the panel members can
give inputs to students like links to articles, research, project, etc.

C. Thesis Hand BooK :


Students will maintain records of discussions/ articles/ prints/ images in one book so that he/she
can always look back at the thought process in a continuum.

STAGES TO BE ASSESSED IN THE REVIEWS

NOTE : In the reviews, the students will present the thesis information in the form of A2 size panels
done and printed in digital format only. The written thesis synopsis in A4 size format will be submitted
only on Review 3 after all the parameters of the thesis project is finalized and approved by the panel.

REVIEW 1 : [2.10.2019] – Minimum 2 Thesis Project Options should be presented by every student

 Hypothesis
Focus of the thesis; Issues / concerns related to the topic; Stand taken on the issues; Intent of the
design; Scope and limitations; “WHY THIS THESIS PROJECT?”

 Site Details
Justification of site selection by context, related environment, issues associated with it, history, proximity
and resources; Site location and area; Site plan with images / photos; “WHERE IS THE THESIS PROJECT?”

 Design Brief
Stand / Focus of the thesis; How design demonstrates the hypothesis taken up.

REVIEW 2 : [1.11.2019]

 Study / Research Component


The study or research component should add value to the design investigation forming its premise.

 Case Studies
Two Case Studies have to be identified; Justification of case study selection based on issues addressed
in the thesis, site or program.

 Literature Review
Five literature review sources have to be identified; Justification of literature review selection based on
issues addressed in the thesis, site or program.

 Data Collection
All support information like user age group, preferences and demographic data, ethnographic data,
climatic data, local building material and technology, Innovations in the related to the topic – basically
all data / information that will support the design process is identified and listed along with the source.

REVIEW 3 : [21.12.2019 & 22.12.2019]

 Title
The title has to be precise, concise and self-explanatory. It can be catchy and inquisitive in approach or
it can be can be in two parts – the first part being the essence and the later being the explanation.

Project Program should be evolved by interrelation diagrams of activities; Area statement should be
supported by area sketches detailing the furniture, resources needed and activity details in that space;
“WHAT WILL THE THESIS PROJECT HAVE?”

 List of Case Studies, Literature Review and Data to be collected

 Design & Research Methodology


This identifies and lists the stages and the manner / method in which the research and design will be
carried forward.

 Project Timeline
This identifies and lists the dates / key milestones for the project. This is done individually by each
student based on his / her topic.

 Specialists / Consultants Required


This identifies and lists the specialists / experts / consultants that have to be referred to for the project.

 Design Deliverables
This is the expected outcomes of the project through a probable list of master plan / drawings / models
/ prototype / manual / demonstration etc.

 Bibliography
List of all sources referred for the project [like books, reports, maps, periodicals like magazines, journals,
newspapers; digital sources like e-books, online journals, online articles, websites etc]
