Students who undergo OJT should know and realize the importance of the
real work experience in their future career. Effective OJT program will not just give
additional manpower for the company but most of all the chances of eagerness of
the trainees to learn, compete and cooperate are in their highest peak rather than
the regular employee. Having a good performance will give them an edge
towards their competitors in the tight competition in a real world of business. In
other hand, managers would recommend your attitude, behavior, knowledge and
skills to other companies that best suited to your line of expertise. It will boost
your self-confidence and assurance when you are applying for a job and making a

History
The beginning of what is now the Negros Oriental State University date
back to 1907, from a single woodworking class at what was the Negros Oriental
Provincial school, the forerunner of the present Negros Oriental High School. As
more industrial art subject were added, a separate arts and trade school on the
secondary level called the Negros Oriental Trade School, Which became the East
Visayan School of Arts and Trades in 1956 and the Central Visayas Polytechnic
College in 1983. In 2004, it is then converted into what is now the Negros
Oriental State University.
Through Republic Act No. 9299 signed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
on June 25, 2004, Central Visayas Polytechnic College (CVPC) was converted into
a state University , now known as the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU),
integrating threwith the Genaro Goῆi Memorial College in the city of Bais, the
Siaton Community College in the Municipality of Siaton, and the Mabinay
Institute of Technology in the Municipality of Mabinay.
“Over the years, NORSU has kept its earned reputation as a university for
the poor and deserving. True to its mission, it continues to provide quality
education to its clientele, the student from the urban rural poor communities of
the province of Negros Oriental, the other provinces of the Visaya and Mindanao
and other parts of the country and the world. Mainly because of the strong
cooperation and support from its faculty, staff, student, parents’ alumni, and
stakeholder from the different sectors of the community, the State University has
introduced many important changes in the facet of university life.
The room for improvement is still wide. We will continue to walk the extra
mile, hurdle many more obstacle that lie ahead. But we will proceed to bring the
needed improvement in the quality of service that the University promised its
client. “– Hon. Henry a. Sojor, Ph. D.

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED
44
SUMMARY
The Dean’s Office of the College of Arts and Sciences is where we were
assigned to have our summer On-the-Job Training (OJT). In our first day of the
training, we were so excited because we would experience the actual Job in a
particular workplace that will prepare and motivate us on how to be responsible,
effective and productive in the near future specially in the real world of work.
Our first week of On-The-Job Training (OJT) on the office was pleasantly
succeeded by doing our various tasks on assigned Areas. We did our
responsibilities as a Trainee; we helped and assist our leaders in each Area. We
encoded, scanned, assisted, checked, find, and arranged according to the needs
of the Area or in the Office. We made things possible as we enhanced our capability
in service. Although, sometimes our task is not highly related to our courses, we
adapted to it since it is more effective in facing the big battles in life in the near
future. In fact, it is just a training or preparation for our future and what our
journey will bring us.
As we go through, our OJT in the CAS office was beneficial. We enjoyed the
moment when we were together with our co-intern, faculty as well as our Dean
of College of Arts and Sciences. We learned that this is a kind of life we have for,
when we are in the field of work.
45
We have to be prepared and take it seriously because life is not easy. Our
co-intern and faculty have become our inspiration as well as our family, whom
made us more active and dedicated to our work. Apparently, God has become the
center of all of this because He is the owner of everything we had.
Indeed, during our On-The-Job training we really learned and develop a lot
not just academically but also socially as well as spiritually as we encountered
different personality. We can say that it is not just skills and knowledge that was
developed during our OJT but as well as our personality as a student. We learned
how to adjust and handle everything which makes us stronger and more
responsible as we become professionals someday.
46
CONCLUSION
Actual work experience is the best leaning tool that nothing can beat. All
aspects in life could be develop not only academically but also the personality of a
person. On-The-Job Training gives us the opportunity to apply what we have
learned, develop our skills and discover new knowledge. It made us better.
47
