 Factual Report of Rickshaw Chalak Malak Union Dombivli

The Information is taken from Rickshaw Chalak Malak Union situated in Dombivli west.
This Union is one of the oldest union in the Dombivli. The symbolic colour Black and
Yellow is the identity of the union. The union committee looks after conduct of all the
Rickshaw walas' with respect to obeying RTO rules and regulations.

From the survey, following information about rickshaw chalak earnings

and auto fares charged in the city is collected with proper guidance by Union
Secretary MR. Shekhar joshi.

1. Registered auto rickshaws in Dombivli city as per data by the union - 8000

2. Cost of Auto rickshaw as per collected data - Generally one Auto rickshaw cost
Rs.1lakh rupees.

3. Loan facility by banks to the rickshaw buyers- Normally, a bank grants about
Rs.88,000 of loan, which goes up to Rs.95000 along with int.

4. Normally more than 75% buyers get auto rickshaw on loan basis.

5. Documents required by Rickshaw wala to get permit, license to drive auto in the city-
School leaving certificate of and minimum 12th Std passing is mandatory.

1. Minimum fare to be charged Rs.13/- usually includes about 1.5km

2. Fare charged after minimum distance covered- For per 10-paisa meter reading costs
Rs.1.30

1. Government should support their need & give their right to them.

2. There should be a rule that the rickshaw wala should be 12th pass or HSC pass, so that t
could be aware of their surrounding changes.

3. Instead of petrol CNG`s should be used which are less in price &are efficient that petrol &
Diesel.
