Genre: Nonfiction
After choosing a nonfiction book for this project, you will write a one-paragraph
statement about what you hope to learn from the book. This paragraph should
be approved in class. Before you start reading, you will be writing questions
about the topic. Then you’ll make a “flip book” and record answers as you read.
Make your questions interesting enough, and others will want to learn more
about the topic you chose!

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
1. Have your parent(s) fill out and sign the cut-out form that shows you
have brought your project home. Bring the signed form back to school.
2. Select a book. Write a paragraph stating what you hope to learn from
reading and have the paragraph approved.
3. Before you read your book, draft a list of 15 to 20 possible questions you
may have about the topic.
4. Review your 15 to 20 draft questions and select the ten best. Have an
adult help you to revise and edit them.
5. Get 10 precut half-sheets of paper and two sheets of construction paper.
Insert brads or book rings to make your flip book.
6. On the front of each page, record a question you’ve selected.
7. Now read your book. As you find the answer to each question, write it on
the flip side of the page.
8. Add some illustrations, borders, and creative lettering to offer visual
interest. Decorate the front cover.
9. Complete and cut out the Project Designer’s Tag and glue to the back
cover.
