Show me how to manage propositions
This video demonstrates how to create and edit propositions in Pega Decision
Management.

U+, a telecom company, wants to offer two propositions to its customers: iPhone and
Galaxy.

As a strategy designer, your task is to create the propositions in the Phones group of the
Sales business issue.

This is the Customer Decision Hub portal.

To begin, check out the proposition hierarchy created by a system architect.

To see the proposition hierarchy, click on Configuration, select Decision Management

and then Proposition Management.

Maximize the page to see an overview of all the proposition groups.

Click Top Level to see the list of available business issues. In this case there is only Sales.

Under a business issue, you can find the list of proposition groups that have been created
for it. For example Phones and Tablets.

4
Every proposition group has a unique record associated with it. This record contains the list
of propositions belonging to the group.

To access the Phones propositions, select the group, and then click on the Phones decision
data record.

Currently there are no propositions defined for this group.

To create a new proposition click New.

5
Then fill in a name, provide a description and start filling in the attributes. Note that this is
the list of attributes as defined by the system architect.

Once finished, click Create to save the proposition.

6
To ensure that the proposition is added to the group, you need to save the Phones group
as well. So click on Save.

7
Now the Phones group has a proposition: the iPhone. To add the second proposition, the
Galaxy, you can follow the exact same steps as for the iPhone.

Alternatively, you can use the bulk editing functionality: Export & Import.

First, export the current list of propositions.

8
Then, edit them in Excel or any other text editor. In this case, add a new row, Galaxy, with
its cost and price. Now save the file.

Return to the Customer Decision Hub portal and import the newly edited file.

As you can see, the Decision Hub detected that the source file has 2 rows, and that one
new row was added.

9
Once you click on Import, the Galaxy is added to the Phones group. But you still need to
save the entire group to make the change effective.

10
And that’s it! You’ve edited the Phones group and added two propositions, iPhone and
Galaxy, with their properties.

You have now reached the end of the video. This video demonstrated how to access the
Proposition Management page where you can see an overview of the proposition
hierarchy as defined by the system architect.

It also showed how to access the record that corresponds with a proposition group.

Finally, it showed how to create individual propositions, assign values to the properties and
save the changes to the proposition group.
