Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

Ten years from now, I hope to have finished med school and to be preparing for a residency in

psychiatry. I can’t imagine how excited I’ll be to finally be seeing patients. To finally be helping people as

an actual doctor will be the best feeling ever, despite the rough hours of a resident.

I also hope that I’m living in a big city. I don’t want to live anywhere that’s very far away, but I

would be open to living in Minneapolis or Chicago. Toronto would be the farthest away I’d go. Being

able to live in a big city is one of my goals for the future.

Some of my other goals include, buying a nice apartment in whatever city I live in, owning a lot

of rescue animals (especially dogs), and living as eco friendly as possible. Choosing to live in an

apartment in a big city will give me better access to public transit. Using public transportation is better

for the environment. I also want to have a lot of rescue pets. My family has adopted a few rescue dogs

and they are the best dogs ever. I want to keep adopting rescue dogs when I’m older and I want to

expand it to other animals too.

During my residency, I hope to prepare any final skills and gain the clinical experience needed to

become a psychiatrist. After my residency, I will be happy if I am able to continue living and practicing in

the same city. I would really like to be able to see as many patients as possible. I want to help a wide

variety of people, not just a single group. I feel as though living in a bigger city will help me accomplish

that and will also allow me to meet many different kinds of people outside of work.

Overall, I mainly just want to live simply and not have to worry about more things than

necessary. I want to be able to focus on my job and my pets and nothing else. I want to be able to relax

when possible and take time for myself. But I don’t want that to be all there is. A little stress can be

good for you, but when that stress happens I hope it’s related to work or my family and that it’s still

nothing serious. I want to be able to relax, but to still have moments when I’m on my toes and ready for

anything.
