Neither KraftMaid Cabinetry, Inc., nor its authorized dealers will be held responsible for a customer’s dissatisfaction with conditions occurring naturally with wood or wood
finishes. By signing below I acknowledge that the conditions described in this document are not defects, but natural occurring features. These conditions have been carefully
explained to me and I understand and accept them.

KITCHEN GENIUS is a KraftMaid representative and authorized dealer. Please note, as a representative, we have no control over their scheduled delivery dates. We can
advise on the delivery date but we cannot guarantee delivery dates. Therefore we are not responsible for delivery dates of the cabinets or any delivery delays by KraftMaid
Cabinetry.

Samples that were shown during your selection process are “aged” samples and reflect what your cabinets will look like over time. Since the wood and stain on your new
cabinets are younger, it will vary slightly from the sales model sample doors.

Custom made appliance panels, door end panels and filler pieces ordered to match your cabinets are not a part of the cabinet price given in this agreement. Due to the various
sizes, makes and models of appliances and the manner in which the cabinets will fit together as well as against the countertops and other appliances, we cannot order these

items until the kitchen is near completion. Once we have received the quote/invoice, we will then be able to give the total cost to the customer, which will be billed on an invoice.
These costs will be due prior to the order being processed.
Every effort will be made to capture all cabinet costs up front. However, there may be a need to order additional parts for your cabinets that are not included in this agreement.
These additional parts are needed due to adjustments once the cabinets have been installed. These extra pieces/parts will be billed to the homeowner at a later date.

Cancellation Charges

You have a three day right to rescind this agreement.

In the event that you choose to cancel your order(s), a 10% cancellation fee will be charged. This fee is to cover any incidentals that KITCHEN GENIUS absorbed.
If the cabinet order has been placed and is already in production with KraftMaid Cabinetry, we cannot refund the monies paid for the cabinets. Once the order goes into
production, KraftMaid will not issue refunds nor will KITCHEN GENIUS.

Wood Characteristics & Finish Awareness

Please check and read sections that apply to your order and sign on last page
Thank you for choosing to make KraftMaid a part of your home. Your satisfaction is very important to us and we will make every effort to exceed your expectations to ensure
that you love your KraftMaid Cabinetry for years to come. It is important that you understand the inherent characteristics in the wood species and finish technique. You’ve
chosen. Nature creates beautiful things; things that are similar, but with unique
Characteristics - no two are exactly alike. The nature of wood and the beauty of each species lie in these individual distinctions that are inherent, even within the same tree.

Below is a thorough guide to help you understand the inherent characteristics in each wood species and finish technique. The beauty of your new cabinetry truly lies in the
natural characteristics of the wood species you select and the distinct hand-applied finishes that enhance wood’s natural character. Finish, variations in light and temperature as
well as natural grain characteristics sometimes exaggerates woods inherent markings.

Please review these characteristics with your KraftMaid designer prior to ordering your cabinetry. Additionally, consider ordering a sample of the door style and finish
combination you’ve selected to ensure that this is the right combination for your home featuring characteristics you will love for years to come.

TRADITIONAL LINE

Wood Characteristics & Finish Awareness

2013 April 4 Page 4

Wood Species

Hickory – Hickory is a strong, open grained wood that is known for its wide variation in color. It is not uncommon to see doors or parts of doors that range in color
from light to a deep brown when finished in a light or natural stain. Darker stains will mildly tone these color variations. These characteristics are what make each
Hickory kitchen unique and the preference of those that love wood.

Finish Options

Finish Selection for this order: Be sure you understand the traits of the finish you are ordering.

o Stain Finish Process – Stained finishes truly showcase the natural beauty and characteristics inherent in each individual wood species. Based on the stain
color chosen, a toner may be applied to the wood to equalize natural sap levels. The stain color is applied and hand-rubbed to ensure full and equal color
coverage for doors and drawer fronts. The final step is the application of sealer and DuraKraft topcoat for the final touch to ensure durability of these
beautiful finishes.
Finish Terminology

o End Grain - End grain surfaces and softer areas of the wood may accept more stain and often appear darker than other surfaces. This is a natural reaction
when finishing wood products and potential variances cannot be controlled.

o Telegraphing – All wood species show some wood grain. The amount of grain will vary by species and finish. Oak is an open are coarse grain wood. The
grain will “telegraph” or visibly show through the stain. Birch and Maple are closed or fine grain woods. Some “telegraphing” will occur, though the effect will
be subtle.

o Semi-Transparent Color Finishes - KraftMaid’s semi-transparent finishes utilize a heavily pigmented stain. They are semi-transparent, which may telegraph
some of the natural beauty of the wood. The following may occur with any semi-transparent finish:

Joint Lines: Since wood is in a constant state of expansion and contraction, visible lines are normal at the joints on the cabinet face, frames and doors. This
does not weaken the finish, or the strength of the joint.

Kraftmaid Addendum Information

The Showroom Environment and its Effect on Cabinetry Displays

Cabinetry showrooms are one of the best environments to visualize how beautiful your cabinetry can be in your home. However, unlike your home, showrooms are not a
protected environment and cabinetry is often exposed to conditions that may alter its appearance from what it looked like when it was new. As a result, it is often recommended
to order a sample door of your door style/finish combination to truly understand what your product will look like when delivered new. A few conditions to keep in mind:

• Overall showroom conditions – In many showrooms, cabinetry may be exposed to dirt, chemicals, etc that are present in the atmosphere. Exposure to these can sometimes
affect the appearance of the finish.

• Showroom lighting – Lighting has a tremendous effect on the look of cabinetry. Different kinds of lighting (fluorescent, halogen, xenon, etc) cast varying color hues of light,
ranging from yellow to pink to blue. The look of cabinetry finishes will

2013 April 4 Page 6

Change significantly depending on the room lighting. Ideally, consider ordering a sample and viewing it your home environment or lighting conditions where the cabinetry will be
installed.

• Light exposure over time – Wood cabinetry naturally mellows with age. Longtime exposure to light, and heat emitted by light, may speed up the process. The look of aged
displays and those exposed to certain lighting conditions will have changed over time. Again, ordering a sample is ideal to confirming your selection.

Characteristics of Wood
The nature of all woods
Regardless of the wood species you select for your home, wood is a natural material and no two pieces are exactly the same. Wood varies greatly in grain pattern and some
finishes naturally exaggerate different defining characteristics, such as mineral deposits/streaks, knots, sap runs, pin holes and worm holes. These markings make each piece
unique and are part of the enduring beauty of your wood selection.

As a natural material, all wood is affected by exposure to light, heat and harsh chemicals. It is also naturally affected by moisture and seasonal changes in humidity. Wood will
naturally contract (shrink) in low humidity and expand in high humidity conditions. Mitered door styles and solid wood center panels tend to exhibit more noticeable changes and
subtle movement in humid conditions.
Notes:
• Based on independent testing, prolonged exposure to tobacco smoke will discolor lighter White and Cream-based finishes and Thermofoil door styles. KraftMaid cannot
warrant finish discoloration based on prolonged exposure to tobacco smoke.

• Ovens and ranges will emit heat and steam during operation. To protect the finish of adjacent cabinets, we recommend the installation of Heat Shields. These heat resistant
acrylic strips attach to the side of adjacent cabinets to shield the doors and drawer fronts from excessive heat. Heat Shields are required in order for KraftMaid to warrant
all Thermofoil door styles.

Sapwood: The outer zone of wood in a tree, next to the bark. Sapwood is generally a bit lighter tone than heartwood.

Heartwood: The inner layers of wood in growing trees that have ceased to contain living cells. Heartwood is generally darker than sapwood, however the two are not always
differentiated.

Characteristic of Finish
All Finishes
Wood products, including cabinet doors, drawer fronts and face frames, will always be affected by environmental conditions. Cabinet finishes are also affected by artificial and
natural light sources. Over time, cabinetry finishes will darken or mellow. KraftMaid adheres tightly to an acceptable range of color for each of our furniture finishes and within
this range, natural variation will occur, although it will be slight.

As wood naturally expands and contracts over time, this movement may cause hairline cracks in the finish surface over time at the joints. This will be most noticeable in some of
our more semi opaque and painted finishes. These are the natural characteristics in wood and are not a reflection of poor craftsmanship. KraftMaid merely tries to improve on
some of nature’s characteristics, but cannot consider these natural characteristics as a reason for product replacement.
