This version of the "Toccata Arpeggiata" in tablature uses Richard Yates'

transcription, but with the 1st string tuned down to D, rather than regular
guitar tuning. (Richard's transcription uses low D tuning.) See how well
it works for you. It's a neat piece, either way.

The chords in this toccata are meant to be arpeggiated, but the arpeggiation
pattern is left up to you, the performer. Richard notes that:

Paul O'Dette simply plays pima-pima-pima-pima for each chord.

Hopkinson Smith plays pimi-aimi-paim-paim for each chord.

Keep in mind that there might be other ways to finger chords which work even
better for you. As an example, here are alternatives for measure 28:
