Standard of Sanitation: Level of Compliance on Selected Siphoning

Companies

Abstract

The study mainly focus on the level of awareness and compliance of


selected siphoning companies in Quezon City and in Caloocan City on the
rules and regulations governing domestic sludge and septage of the
Department of Health (DOH) as well as the proper collection, transportation,
treatment and disposal of sewage.

The descriptive method was used in the study in order to test the
gathered data and information. The frequency and percentage distribution,
weighted mean, independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA was used to
test and analyze the study.

Based on the result of the study, majority on the nature of the business
of the respondents are into collection and transportation of sewage mostly
located in Caloocan City. Hence, the respondents were slightly aware on the
manual prescribed by the DOH. The study also found-out that in Caloocan
City, the operation of siphoning business is prohibited because there is no
designated area for the collected sewages.

The researchers recommend siphoning companies to comply with the


rules and regulation instructed by the government in order for them to
continue their operations without compromising the environment and the
health of the general public.
