Assignment Brief
1.0 Scenario

The Standard Method of Measurement (SMM) provides a uniform basis for


measurement, which allows proper itemisation. The estimator is therefore able to
identify costs in a scientific and methodical manner so that pricing becomes less
complex. Sri Lanka did not have a SMM for building works until 1982. Various
organisations have been used diverse methods. To achieve the uniformity in the
method of measurement of building works in the industry, the SMM for building
works, SLS 573, was introduced in 1982 and in 1999 first revision of it was published.

2.0 Task

i. Students are require to identify and describe the deficiencies in MEP related
section of SLS 573 (1999 1st revision)

3.0 Submission

 Student are required to submit a hard copy of the report answering to task (i) on
or before 26th December 2019 to CHPB.

 Word limit (minimum) – 500 words
