MARINE SURVEY REPORT

This report is issued for use in connection with the claim against the parties responsible
but does not imply that the loss is recoverable from the insurers. This must depend on the terms of
policy of insurance and declarations made by insured.
I. PREAMBLE

M/s Bharat Electronics Limited, Nagavara, Outer Ring Road, Bangalore – 560045 preferred a
claim following loss of a consignment of Band straps (Radar Parts) from the CELEBI warehouse
exit gate of the cargo complex of Indira Gandhi International Air Port, New Delhi, to their Insurer
from M/s United India Insurance Company Limited, Bangalore.

We in turn were requested to conduct the survey and assess the loss. Full details of survey conducted
are given as under:

truck, the consignment was lost due to theft by miscreants

f) Survey and inspection

 In pursuance to the instructions received from M/S United India Insurance Co Ltd Banglore, Our
Representative Sri Bharatwaj, senior surveyor, Delhi, visited the cargo complex located at Indira
Gandhi International Airport New Delhi on 12-6-2018 for conducting survey & assessment of the
captioned loss. During our aforesaid visit we inspected the spot of theft along with the Mr Ashwini
of M/S Freight Express International Pvt Ltd New Delhi and instituted enquiries to ascertain the
particulars of the loss. Thereafter we requested the Insured for furnishing the relevant
information /Documents pertaining to the claim.

 We have examined the documents provided by the insured’s agents (on behalf of the insured) and
now submit our final survey report as under. .

 M/s Bharat Electronics Ltd Bharat Nagar-PO Ghaziabad 201010 UP INDIA had imported a
consignment containing 50 Nos BAND STRAPS RADAR Components from M/S Glenair UK Ltd
United Kingdom vide their invoice No UKSI 6488888 dated 20-4-2018 and Air way Bill details
mentioned above. We gathered that the consignment packed in one card board packet measuring
(15x11x6CM) was shipped by Air through Jet Airways and the same arrived at destination on 14-5-
2018.

 M/s Freight International Pvt Ltd New Delhi the authorized custom house agents engaged by the
Insured filed the Bill Of Entry No 6384656 Dated 15-5-2018 and arranged clearance from customs
on 17-5-2018 .The shipment was released on 17-5-2018 vide BC No B201805161669 Dated 16-5-
2018 and gate pass no N201805161424 Dated 16-5-2018 and placed in the outside lobby of
CELEBI Warehouse near the exit gate for loading and sending to the interior final destination on
17-5-2018. While the consignment was waiting for the loading on to the truck the same was lost
following an act of theft by some miscreants. Since the insured could not trace the consignment
even after a thorough search, they lodged Loss Information report with Crime Branch Section of

Delhi Police on 21-5-2018 and same was recorded a Lost article Report No. 1361180/2018 Dt. 21-
05-2018 by SO No. 430/2014 Delhi Police.

 Now after hearing the representatives of the Insured the clearing agent staff posted at the cargo
complex it appears to be a case of organized theft and the trace or recovery would be remote. The
Lost article report also clearly specify that no enquiry or investigation would be made on the
subject matter and Hence to be treated as a closed matter.

IX.CAUSE OF LOSS

 Due to an act of theft by miscreants at the air cargo complex.

X. SALVAGE VALUE

 Since the lost material is not recovered and based on the nature of the consignment the possibility
of recovery is also remote.

XI. ASSESSMENT OF LOSS:

 The insured submitted their claim bill amounting to Rs.28,581.20 which included the cost of the
materials lost, freight charges, customs duty and the clearing forwarding charges.

 We examined the policy and as per the basis of valuation provided in page 5 of the policy the
settlement would be on the basis of CIF plus 10%.

 Further the customs duty is not admissible as per the terms of valuation.

 The excess applicable as per the policy is 0.5% of the claim subject to minimum of Rs.2,500/- per
claim.

 Hence we have worked out the assessment accordingly and is detailed as below:
