Shop assistant –
Good morning / Good afternoon / Good evening!
(How) can I help you?
Customer / Client – Yes, please. I’m looking for a shirt
and a pair of jeans.

S.A. – Come this way, please. [Follow me.]


C. – I’d like to (I would like to) buy a green shirt,
please.

S.A. – What size do you take?


C. – A medium or large. I’m not sure. Where are the
fitting rooms / changing rooms, please?

S.A. – The fitting rooms are over there.


C. – Can I try it on, please? = Can I try the shirt on,
please? (singular)
C. – Can I try them on, please? = Can I try the trousers
on, please? (plural)
S.A. – Certainly, sir.
(5 minutes later)
C. – I don’t like this colour. The shirt is too big / large
too. Do you have any other colours?
S.A. – Yes, I do. Do you prefer this one or that one? /
Which one do you prefer – the red shirt or the white
shirt?

C. – The white one, please. I need a pair of jeans too.


S.A. – Here you are. Would you like to try them on? /
Would you like to try the trousers on?

C. – No, thank you. This is my size. I’d like to pay now.

S.A. – Come this way, please. I’ll / I will take you there.
(2 minutes later)

C. – How much is it, please?


S.A. – It’s 70 (seventy) euros, please. Would you like
to pay in cash or by credit card / debit card? (How
would you like to pay?)

C. – I’d like to pay in cash.


S.A. – Here is / Here’s your change. Thank you very
much. Have a nice day.
