Figure Q2. Gears for a gear box A gear box with two identical pairs of spur gears is shown in Figure Q2. Details of the gear box are as follows: Gear and pinion material - Steel 34Cr Mo 4 V, normalized, quenched & tempered up to 280 HB, Module mg)z = Msg = 3.0 mm; face width b, = by = by = by = 60 mm; center distance aj, = as = 250 mm; input shaft speed n, 900 rpm; number of teeth for pinion Z, 30; number of teeth for gear Z = Z, = 90; accurancy grade ISO-7, Assume n = 100%, correction factors Ky Ky-Kyp-Kys = 1, Spina = 1s Spin “ls Ky-Ky-Krp-Kee= 1, Y€ = 0.7, Yp = 1-Y¢s for pinion Z, & Z; = 4.38 while Yzs for gear Z) & Z, = 4.28 2.1 Show the most loaded pair of gears ( Z, - Zp pair or Z, - Z, pair). 2.2. Determine the maximum value of nominal power that can be transmitted by gearbox whilst satisfying the requirements of surface durability and tooth root strength of the most loaded pair of gear. 2.3. Explain which tooth gear of the most loaded pair (pinion or gear) of the gearbox should be calculated for tooth root strength?
