[Jane: Welcome to Cheerful Travel Company. My name is Jane. How can I help
you?
Dad: Hello, Jane. I’m looking for a summer holiday package that suits my family.
Jane: No problem. I need to know some basic information first. What’s your name,
sir?
Dad: My surname is Thompson, t-h-o-m-p-s-o-n. (beep) (10-second pause)

Jane: How many people are going on this trip?

Dad: I’m travelling with my wife and my son.
Patrick: Dad, don’t forget Aunt Tracy! Mum said she would like to join this trip.
Dad: Oh yes, you’re right. Please include her as well.
Jane: OK. Let me write down the number of people. (beep) (10-second pause)

Jane: Do you prefer to go on a long trip or a short trip? Our company offers travel
packages that last for three days, five days or seven days.
Patrick: Dad, I think we should go on a longer trip so that we can have more time for
sightseeing.
Dad: OK. Then, let’s choose the longest one.
Jane: No problem, sir. (beep) (10-second pause)

Jane: Have you been to Europe before? Germany and France are popular
destinations in summer.
Dad: We’ve been to both countries before, so we’d like to go somewhere else
this time. Patrick, where do you want to go?
Patrick: Hmm ... What about Italy? I haven’t been there before.
Dad: That’s a good idea. We can visit the Tower of Pisa! (beep) (8-second

Jane: Now, please decide on your travel dates. Which of the following periods is
the best for you?

from mid August.
Jane: OK. Let me mark this period as your first choice. (beep) (8-second pause)

Jane: How about your second choice?

Dad: I’d probably choose one of the periods in July. Shall we pick the one from
the third to the ninth of July?
Patrick: Dad, I can’t make it. My school’s summer holidays begin on the seventh of
July, and I have a summer camp from the twelfth to the fourteenth of July.
Dad: In that case, there’s only one option left. Let’s choose it as our second
choice. (beep) (8-second pause)

Jane: Our packages only include the flight tickets and the hotel rooms. Would you
like to book any local tours through us?
Dad: That would be great! Are there any cultural tours?
Jane: Yes, I think this one-day tour is suitable for you. The tour guide will show
you around the historical buildings in Rome and tell you about the history
behind each of them. (beep) (8-second pause)

Dad: Besides the local tours, can I book local activities through your company as
well?
Jane: Yes. What kinds of activities would you like to book?
Dad: My son wants to try hot-air ballooning. I think it would be wonderful if we
look at the city from the top.
Jane: Sure. Let me write that down here. Is there anything else?
