It is my pleasure to be here this very day and to share with you, even in a short
time!
Educating our children has always been imperative to prepare them to inherit
the world, but it is not just the job of the school. GPTA, to a large extent, is a
close partner of the school to support child’s goals in education. Moreover, the
ultimate goal of our teachers is to nurture the whole child in all aspects of
development and help them discover their own potential as they grow up. This
endeavor may always seem blur if only our teachers did this all alone.
I will not wonder if almost of the parents ask question: “Do we parents really
need to participate school activities for our child’s education? Almost parents
will react: “What about my work?” “What about my small business?” “What
about my farm?” “What about my sari-sari store?” and so many reasons again
and again. The worst thing is, you, parent, will always response, “I’m too much
busy, maybe next time I can!”
Remember, one pillar may not be enough in molding our child’s future; and
therefore, a teacher – parent involvement is at great attributes to them. GPTA
is not only a partner of the school, it also serves as an important platform to
providing a two-way communication between a school and the parents. By this,
teachers and parents can symmetrically mold the individuality of every student
making him or her develop sense of moral and social responsibility in the
community where they lived in.
Numerous studies have shown that when parents are involved in school
activities, students can:
Achieve higher grades and test scores.
Are more likely to graduate.
Have higher attendance rates
Increased motivation
Improved self-esteem
Have lower suspension rates
Decreased drug and alcohol use
Fewer instances of violent behaviour
Are more likely to pursue postsecondary education.
Before I step down, let me take this opportunity to say this: I wish you all
successful students spread your wings and fly over the horizon of your dreams
through upward direction creating new heights in the years to come.
A simple and fruitful saying says: “If we are together, we can make a difference.”
