In the Philippines, many studies have been conducted in order to determine the effectiveness of Madre
Cacao in curing skin diseases of animals. One of these studies was the Efficacy Test and Acceptability of
Kakawate (Gliricidia sepium) Leaf Extract Soap Against Mange in Dogs. This study was conducted by
Gregory B. Viste, Priscilo P. Fontanilla Jr., Vicky A. Agpasa, Nida B. Tabije and Fe M. Camalig, students of
Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Bacnotan, La Union. The study shows how can soap
made of Madre Cacao kill species of mites such as mange.
Mange is a contagious skin disease of animals caused by several species of mites. Once infection is
established, animals may suffer from intense pruritus and hypersensitivity which can lead to debilitation
and possibly death. Gliricidia sepium know as madre de cacao or kakawate in the Philippines is effective
in treating external parasites including mange infection in dogs and other animals. The study was
conducted to make herbal soap and render the medicinal plant more convenient to use, storable and
readily available to pet owners throughout the year, even in the urban areas where kakawate tree is
seldom seen.

Malunggay (Moringa oleifera) plant is abundant throughout the Philippines. This plant grows anywhere
in the country. It has become the buzz due to the discovery of its many nutrients. The researcher tends
to study on medical value of Moringa oleifera in lowering blood glucose. This study was performed to
determine the effectiveness of Moringa oleifera leaf extracts in lowering blood glucose. The
experimental mice where weighed and their blood glucose were tested using a glucometer before the
experiment. The mice were fed with condensed milk using the gavage method for five (5) consecutive
days. All the mice gained high blood glucose after the procedure.
Different concentrations of malunggay leaf extracts: 25%, 50%, 75% and 0% were prepared. These
extracts were treated to three (3) mice each as treated to the four groups of mice.
Data analysis revealed that there was a significant difference in the mean blood glucose level of white
mice when subjected to various levels of malunggay leaves extract, the lower the blood glucose, The
findings confirmed that the malunggay leaf extract has a hypoglycemic property that can be used as
hypoglycemic drugs. Thus, it can be used in treating diabetes.
Weighted Mean = Σwx/Σw
Weighted Mean is an average computed by giving different weights to some of the individual values. If
all the weights are equal, then the weighted mean is the same as the arithmetic mean.
It represents the average of a given data. The Weighted mean is similar to arithmetic mean or sample
mean. The Weighted mean is calculated when data is given in a different way compared to an arithmetic
mean or sample mean.
Whereas weighted means generally behave in a similar approach to arithmetic means, they do have a
few counter-instinctive properties. Data elements with a high weight contribute more to the weighted
mean than do elements with a low weight.
The weights cannot be negative. Some may be zero, but not all of them; since division by zero is not
allowed. Weighted means play an important role in the systems of data analysis, weighted differential
and integral calculus.
Another statistical technique used by the researchers was the weighted mean. It was used to determine
the average responses of the different options provided in the various parts of the survey questionnaire
use. The method is used in conjunction with the Likert Scale. I

Formula of weighted Mean

The Weighted mean for given set of non-negative data x1,x2,x3,….xn with non-negative
weights w1,w2,w3,….wn can be derived from the formula.
x¯¯¯=w1x1+w2x2+…..+wnxnw1+w2+…..wn
Where,
x is the repeating value
w is the number of occurrences of x weight
x¯¯¯ is the weighted mean

Bayabas is a somewhat hairy plant reaching a height of 8 meters. Young branches are 4-angled. Leaves
are opposite, oblong to elliptic, and 5 to 1 centimeters long, the apex being pointed, and the base
usually rounded. Peduncles are 1- to 3-flowered. Flowers are white, 3 to 3.5 centimeters across, with in-
curved petals, coming out solitary or two to three in the leaf axils. Numerous stamens form the
attractive part of the flower. Inferior ovaries develop into round or obovoid green fruits 4 to 9
centimeters long, turning yellow on ripening and have edible, aromatic, seedy pulp.

CONCLUSION
Based on the findings of the study, the researchers therefore conclude that the madre cacao is effective
in curing the skin diseases of cats and dogs. The extract of the Madre Cacao serves as the as the main
ingredient of the product. With the right formulation of the mixture of the ingredients, the Madre Cacao
Conditioner is produced. For the advantages of the Madre Cacao conditioner as compared to the
commercial one, it is generally viewed as more effective and more efficient product. In addition, people
are ready to support the all-natural conditioner to use in their pets.

Abstract Ticks are arthropods and the most important vectors of major human diseases after
mosquitoes. Due to their impact on public health, in vitro and in vivo assays have been developed to
identify molecules with repellent activities on ticks. Repellents are useful to reduce tick bite exposure
and the potential transmission of pathogens; they can be used topically or in impregnated clothing.
Presently, mainly synthetic molecules are commercialized as skin repellents, e.g., N,N-diethyl-meta-
toluamide (DEET), IR3535, picaridin or KBR 3023, and para-menthanediol. Permethrin is largely used for
fabric impregnation. Intensive research has been conducted to identify new molecules with repellent
activity and more recently, plant-derived molecules, as an alternative to synthetic molecules.
