A forced-draft countercurrent water-cooling tower is to cool water from 43,3 to 26,7 C .

the air
enters the bottom of the tower at 23,9 C with a wet bulb temperature of 21.1 C . the value of Hg for
the flow condition is Hg= 0,533 m. The heat transfer resistance in the liquid phase will be neglected ,
ng is verly large. Hence, value of Hy should be used . calculate the tower height need if 1,5 times the
minimum air rate is used.

It is planned to cool water from 110 to 85 F in a packed countercurrent water-cooling tower using
entering airn at 85 F with a wet bulb temperature of 75 F. The water flow is 2000 lbm/h ft^2 and the
air flow is 1400 lbm air/h ft^2 .the overall mass transfer coefficient is Kg a= 6,90 lbmol/h ft^2 atm.

A. calculate the minimum air rate that ca be used

b. calculate the tower height neede if the air flow of 1400 lbm air/h ft^2 is used
